Position: Process Engineer III
Location: Headquarters – Moon Township, PA

Hours of work: Mondays - Fridays, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, 40 Hours/Week - Expected to work outside of normal hours at times to support 24 hr/day plant operation and for occasional offsite assignments (Including 30% travel with concentrated periods of higher travel) 

 
The Process Engineer III provides process engineering technical support to Operations, Maintenance, and various Corporate departments. The Process Engineer III is responsible for a variety of engineering activities that include identification and initiation of plant improvement projects, support of plant capital projects, technical support to production teams, resolution of all technical regulatory issues, and development/presentation of technical training. 

 

The Process Engineer III performs complex assignments often requiring development of new or improved products/processes/techniques. The Process Engineer III assesses feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering tests/products/equipment. The Process Engineer III coordinates planning, organization, and implementation of engineering projects within constraints of specific objectives and target dates as specified by management. The Process Engineer III must manage multiple assignments while working closely with other staff members, production teams, and maintenance personnel.

The Process Engineer III may represent a transition from individual contributor to the managerial level. The Process Engineer III may or may not carry the ongoing responsibilities for people management. The Process Engineer III position requires an ability to interpret on a broad basis, principles, theories, and concepts of an engineering specialty.

Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to) 

  • Participates in daily production team activities 
  • Provides guidance to Operations regarding process conditions, product campaign start-ups and transitions, and troubleshooting
  • Responsible for updating and maintaining production campaign process condition instructions
  • Required to be a part of the Manufacturing/CCC management team and is expected to exhibit a high degree of cooperation/teamwork to maintain the most efficient operation of the plant and department
  • Must be flexible in work activities to support cross-functional department and position assignments
  • Provides coverage for other staff personnel in their absence
  • Actively participates in site safety programs to maintain a safe working environment 
  • Responsible for technical aspects of environmental compliance
  • Develops a high level of technical proficiency in the manufacture of activated carbon and stays current with chemical engineering skills
  • Participates in the preparation of process reports, regulatory reports and manufacturing instructions
  • Provides technical guidance and technical support for establishing raw material and final product specifications
  • Plans and conducts plant trials
  • Provides technical training for plant personnel

  • Identifies and develops process improvement opportunities and obtains approval for cost reduction project implementation
  • Coordinates and/or participates in the design, installation and start-up of new projects at the plant
  • Provides process engineering support to Corporate projects and to other manufacturing sites

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.), or equivalent from four-year college or university is required
  • 5-7 years years experience in a plant environment is required
  • 5+ years, including manufacturing development/optimization experience is preferred
