MassBayCommunity College seeks qualified part-time Lab Assistants in our DualEnrollment/Early College EMT Program at Brookline High School, Brookline, MA.The EMT Lab Assistant works in the laboratory and simulation setting in theEmergency Medical Technician Program. Our Lab Assistants have obtained andmaintain current, unrestricted, and appropriate state and nationalcertification and/or licensure where applicable and have earned appropriateeducation. These certifications and licensures must be provided, as requested,to meet state and national accreditation requirements. The Learning Specialistsmust be proficient in all areas of prehospital patient management andinterventions, communicate effectively, assess students objectively, and workas part of a team.

Timeline: Fall 2025 (August – December 2025) and futuresemesters

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provide instruction in EMT courses to students on various topics in basic emergency care procedures and patient management;
  • Supervise and/or evaluate students through skills practice in the proper procedures for safe and effective use of EMS equipment and simulation manikins under the direction of the Instructor/Coordinator or lead instructor;
  • Coordinate and facilitate groups of students and supervise the open lab, as needed;
  • Maintain current working knowledge of prehospital practices, as well as a good working knowledge of the EMT curriculum and teaching methodology;
  • Maintain appropriate paperwork and documentation;
  • Collaborate with the lead instructor and other lab assistants concerning students' academic progress and needs;
  • Prepare EMT lab sessions with the appropriate materials and equipment necessary to effectively teach or evaluate EMT skills for each student under the direction of the
  • Instructor/Coordinator or lead instructor;
  • Maintain a safe lab environment during skills training and evaluation sessions;
  • Must attend pre-scheduled department meeting(s) each semester;
  • Carry out other related duties as assigned by the Dean consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Required Qualifications:

  • MA EMT certification in good standing with no history of suspension or revocation;
  • Current AHA BLS certification;
  • Three (3) years of experience as an EMT on an ambulance and at least 5 years' experience teaching in a secondary or post-secondary school or higher education environment or its equivalent.

PreferredQualifications:

  • Credentialed Paramedic in Massachusetts;
  • Sensitivity and commitment to the goals of Affirmative Action and workforce diversity;
  • Experience working in a diverse environment;
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with underserved students;
  • Current AHA BLS instructor credentials;
  • Current MA Instructor Coordinator License;
  • Experience working withhigh school or college students in a flexible setting.

Additional Information:

Salary Range: $42 per hour

Position Type: MCCC Part-Time Grade 5
