Senior Machinist/ CNC Programmer

Location: Virginia Beach, VA (on-site)

Shift: Monday- Friday, 8:15 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. (ET), Overtime as needed

How you will contribute to LifeNet Healths success:

The Senior Machinist/ CNC Programmer develops programs to control CNC machining of equipment for new product introductions and aids in preparation of tissue by CNC machining. Creates computer aided manufacturing plans for multi-axis execution of programs for manufacturing, assembling, and repairing equipment/tooling. Assists in training of CNC machining and aid in sorting the order of jobs to maximize efficiency.

What youll do:

  • Programming and Planning: Writes programs in the language of a machine's controller and stores tested programs on LNH servers. Determines the sequence of machine operations, selects the proper cutting tools, and sets tool speeds and cutting fees needed to machine workpieces into the desired shapes. Analyzes job orders, drawings, blueprints, specifications, and design data to calculate dimensions, tool selection, machine speeds, and feed rates. Sorts shop orders into groups to maximize materials utilization and minimize machine setup time.
  • Troubleshoot and Simulation: Revises programs to eliminate errors and retests programs to check that problems have been solved to ensure that programs and machinery will function properly and produces items that meet specifications. Observes machines on trial runs or conduct computer simulations to ensure that programs and machinery will function properly and produces items that meet specifications. Modifies existing programs to enhance efficiency.
  • Repair: Repairs production equipment as assigned to meet drawing specifications or per sample. Maintains precision tooling, equipment, and machinery in proper working condition.
  • Training: Assists is helping technicians and machinists to improve their knowledge and skills by instructing in the set-up and operation and programming of CNC equipment.

What youll bring (Minimum Requirements):

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ten (10) years of experience in a machine shop/ job shop prototype machining and assembly environment.
  • Five (5) years of CNC programming and machining experience using CAM.
  • Five (5) years of experience with CAD.

Preferred Experience/Skills/Certifications:

  • Associates degreeor completion of vocational training or an apprenticeship in machine tool technology; technical operations or a related field.
  • Accredited CNC certificate
  • Eleven (11) years of experience in a machine shop/ job shop prototype machining and assembly environment.
  • Five (5) years of 5-axis CNC programming and machining experience using Mastercam.
  • Five (5) years of experience with SolidWorks.

These would be nice too (Knowledge Skills and Abilities):

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office: PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook, Microsoft Suite.
  • Technical Working Knowledge: CNC mill, CNC lathe, saws, grinders, hand tools, measuring and gauging instruments.
  • Individual Development: Willingness to embrace and follow through on continuous learning to apply new knowledge.
  • Creativity & Innovation: Developing, designing, or creating new applications, ideas, relationships, systems, for CNC programming and work holding.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate and build relationships with all professionals at different levels within the organization.
  • Time Management: Ability to prioritize multiple, competing priorities and manage time/ workload. Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and juggle multiple time sensitive projects, multi-task, identify project interdependencies, and potential risks/ pitfalls.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to perform tasks thoroughly and with care; checks work to ensure high degree of accuracy/ completeness and early/ on-time delivery.

Salary: $31.17- $41.56/ hour

The pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on geographic location and the candidates qualifications and prior relevant experience. The pay range for this position is $31.17 hourly (entry-level qualifications) to $41.56 hourly (experienced in this role).

* Actual compensation may be higher based on the successful candidate's knowledge and relevant experience.

This position is eligible for an annual bonus once eligibility criteria are met.
