DSCA Instructors assist military and government Service personnel in the planning, coordination, synchronization and execution of live, virtual and constructive training, classroom training events as well as individual and collective training support programs designed to prepare key leaders, individuals, units, and staff/headquarters elements to perform their mission, successfully plan, coordinate, and execute DSCA operations according to established principles. Personnel shall have the ability to use standard systems employed in the development of HD and DSCA missions, which includes CRE missions, to include Google Earth and Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, and Excel) products.
Duties:
Responsible for student registration, scheduling and newsletter
Have data management skills and experience
Products shall be created using Microsoft Office products to include Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Additional programs include Microsoft Teams, Blackboard Learning Management System and creating and maintaining account access to the Army Training Requirements and Resources System (ATRRS)
Registering students for each DSCA PH II Course, Theater Army Staff Course (TASC) and the Company Commander/First Sergeant Pre-Command Course (CCFSPCC). Registration for the DSCA PH II Course and the CCFSPCC shall be done using ATRRS
Oversite of the DSCA Newsletter (considered as Phase III)
It is an update of new policies, procedures, and course offerings
Shall research, prepare and distribute the DSCA newsletter to course alumni as continuing education updates
Updates consist of bi-weekly articles regarding operational lessons learned, changing policy and doctrine
Distribute these articles using MILSUITE and Facebook
Conduct training and training assistance for military and civilian related subjects in non-contingency operations and non- austere environments
Assist with classroom setup, breakdown, loading and unloading of classroom, Audio video (AV), and Information Technology (IT) instruction for each DSCA PH II Course, Theater Army Staff Course (TASC) and the Company Commander/First Sergeant Pre-Command Course (CCFSPCC)
Determine and coordinate necessary audio/visual support items or training aids required to produce and deliver resident classroom and distance learning instruction
Compose and Email acceptance letters to prospective students
Enroll students in Joint Knowledge Online (JKO) Learning Management System (LMS) database NLT 45 days before class start date
Graduate all successful course attendees in JKO and drop all non- attendees and failures
Graduate all successful Army students in Army Training Requirement and Resource System (ATRRS), database. Provide graduation documents/course completion certificates to non-Army students to document completion to their agencies.
Attend local (Ft. Sam Houston, TX) and TDY DSCA courses to meet students, confirm course registration and assist students with course administration
Assist Government Course Coordinator to schedule and coordinate classroom facilities.
Teach students how to plan and execute DSCA response operations using methods that include classroom lecture, small group discussion, case studies, and table-top exercises.
Develop and use course materials as lesson plans, student handouts and instructor books, and provide these lesson plans and handouts to the Government upon each revision
Serve as the Phase II resident course coordinator responsible for planning, coordinating, and leading the DSCA class. The SUB shall arrange for the attendance and support of guest speakers for the courses, evaluate the relevancy of their contributions to the knowledge base, and perform appropriate follow up actions
Support USNORTHCOM and USARNORTH training programs to include but, not limited to, DSCA Mobile Training Teams and single day DSCA seminar instruction
Evaluate the results of training and instruction with examinations at the undergraduate and graduate-level of instruction.
Evaluate the results of student test scores and grade books to assess student and instructor performance
Serve as a student academic advisor responsible for student accountability, evaluation, and remediation
Conduct course hot washes for each DSCA PH II Course, TASC and CCFSPCC, analyze student surveys and prepare course After Action Reports (AARs) to improve the quality and relevancy of the program of instruction, and e-mail the AAR with the student roster to the USARNORTH Deputy G-3/7 and the Education Section Chief within three business days after completing the course
Prepare course demographics report for each course
Use existing, and or modified SUB- developed training tutorials, courseware curricula and Programs of Instruction (POI) for military and civilian related subjects
Maintain concurrency of the Government provided programs of instruction throughout the period of performance and adapt the POIs to address any changes in TLO and ELO documents as furnished by USNORTHCOM, Department of the Army and USARNORTH
Research, prepare and distribute the DSCA course newsletter and its continuing education updates.
These updates consist of bi- weekly articles regarding operational lessons learned, changing policy and doctrine.
Distribute these articles using MILSUITE and Facebook or other efficient community of knowledge learning mechanisms
Sustain an evolving content reflective of an ever-changing contemporary operating environment
Nominate update topics to Senior Instructor
Conduct research and write articles for the update
Submit articles to the Senior Instructor for approval for release
Post articles to Facebook and MILSUITE or another community-type forum for distribution bi-weekly per schedule
Review the DSCA Phase I Online Curriculum on a quarterly basis to ensure that the information provided is current. The SUB shall update the curriculum as needed
Maintain, update, and remove online content currently delivered via web-based training products, social media, and video network training technologies as necessary to ensure relevant and current content
Basic Qualifications:
Three years of DSCA operational experience within the last seven years at the JTF and/or Defense Coordinating Element level
Two years of previous military classroom instruction experience and, prior to serving as DSCA Instructors
Pass the ARNORTH instructor certification program
This program includes successfully completing DSCA Phase I and II courses, teaching a DSCA authorities' class to a review board and course right seat ride
FEMA Independent Study Courses 100, 200, 700 and 800b online courses
Complete DSCA Phase II Course courses
Working knowledge of MS Office products (Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
Working knowledge of Google Earth
Must be a US citizen with a Secret or higher security clearance
Good oral and written communications skills
Ability to effectively deliver presentations
Good interpersonal skills
Ability to travel TDY
