We are seeking a Structural Engineer with at least 10 years of experience to join our team at the Senior Project Manager (SPM) level. The ideal candidate will have a broad technical skill set, including expertise in a variety of design, structural repair/rehabilitation, and/or structural forensics work for buildings, with strong project management skills. The candidate should be committed to the supervision and mentorship of less experienced staff and to assisting with business development. This position is a leadership-track opportunity with shareholder eligibility and includes responsibilities generally aligned with ASCE Grade V.

The Structural Engineer will be expected to plan and conduct structural repair, design, and investigative projects; complete and review analysis and design calculations; execute and manage the preparation of drawings and specifications; manage project budgets and schedules; assist in mentoring less experienced staff; and interact with clients.

What Youll Be Doing:

  • Work on a wide range of structural-engineering projects involving steel, concrete, masonry, and wood structures, with a focus on the repair/rehabilitation/restoration/reuse of existing buildings.
  • Plan and conduct site investigations to document existing conditions.
  • Execute the construction-administration phase of projects, including bid assistance, submittal review, site meetings, etc.
  • Serve as a project manager on projects including:
    • Condition assessments of existing buildings
    • Design of repair/rehabilitation/restoration/reuse of existing structures
    • Investigation of structural failures and adverse performance issues
    • Preparation of technical reports
  • Maintain direct client contact and foster strong business relationships.
  • Pursue professional activities to gain recognition in the field, including publishing articles/papers and giving technical presentations.
  • Serve as a career supervisor to less experienced staff, providing guidance and mentorship.
  • Actively contribute to business development and the growth of the company.

What Youll Need:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in structural analysis and design of concrete, steel, masonry, and wood-frame structures.
  • MS in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Professional Engineering License (PE); SE license preferred.
  • Proven experience as a skilled project manager, including managing project budgets, schedules, and client relationships.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with proficiency in writing and editing project specifications, technical reports, field reports, project correspondence, and proposals.
  • Proficiency in the use of computer analysis software (e.g., ETABS, SAP, RISA, RAM, SAFE, etc.).
  • Ability to travel to remote job sites and a clean motor vehicle report (if applicable).
  • A strong interest in business development and serving as a mentor to staff.
  • Must be willing to work in person at least 3 days/week.

Compensation:

Anticipated annual base salary: $135,200 - $178,880. This range is a good faith estimate pursuant to applicable equal pay and pay transparency laws. The actual salary offered will be based on several factors including the candidates experience, qualifications and work location.

Base salary is a part of SGHs industry leading Total Compensation package. Our Total Compensation package includes base salary, pay for extra hours worked, an annual discretionary bonus program, generous paid time off, and health and wellness benefits with a special emphasis on substantial SGH contributions to medical insurance premiums and SGHs Profit Sharing & 401(k) Plan.
