POSITION DETAILS
Full-time with benefits; 80 hours in the two week pay period, Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5pm; weeknight, weekend and holiday on call rotations required.
JOB SUMMARY
The Information Systems Support Specialist assists in the operation and maintenance of the hospital’s information system hardware and software. Installs, diagnoses, supports, and maintains a variety of computer software, hardware, data network, and telecommunications infrastructure. The Support Specialist provides initial help desk assistance, problem resolution assessment, end-user support utilizing acquired knowledge, technical resources, and/or established procedures keeping customers apprised of progress and problem status. Responsible for daily, routine departmental functions to support the hardware/software operations and provides appropriate backup support to the Information Systems team. Performs related duties as required and scheduled hours will vary depending on task.
MAJOR JOB FUNCTION
1. Supports various computer/software issues with knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures for supporting computers, applications and other varios network devices along with assisting in AS400 operations. This includes analyzing workstation requirements, device implementations, maintaining inventory, various types of printers, software installs/maintenance, troubleshooting hardware/software, administering assigned applications, etc.
2. Supports users various hardware/software issues with knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures for supporting telecommunications operations. This includes setup implementation of end users phone equipment, headsets, managing applications, troubleshooting, etc.
3. Maintains excellent knowledge base of Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite, networking basics, server support and HMS system.
4. Provides training of users, as necessary, for education/file building/hardware/software support to maximize the values of current systems and assure proper implementation of new/existing systems.
5. Primary organizer/software administrator to utilize inventory tracking software for hardware/software and intranet program.
6. Has excellent organizational skills, time management skills, attention to detail, completes assignments within established timelines and with minimal supervision. Uses initiative and good judgment to reach quality decisions. Seeks appropriate guidance in problem solving when necessary.
7. Completes daily departmental functions supporting operations such as systems checks, operations audit, etc in a dependable, timely manner as assigned.
8. Performs daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, support functions/system maintenance along with appropriate documentation per established protocols, as scheduled. On call, weekend and night hours will be required to assist with departmental needs.
9. Maintains security of materials, equipment, and files located within the facility and ensures that all users adhere to the established data security policies of the department. Takes appropriate action when security violations occur.
10. Performs other duties as assigned.

1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
2. Post secondary education and/or work related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
1. Must have computer related education, basic Microsoft Office knowledge, basic typing and ten-key skills.
2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
3. Excellent human relation skills as demonstrated by the ability to interface positively with all customers and employees.
4. Must have the ability to work with frequent interruptions, under stress and with minimal supervision.
5. Needs to possess a high level of intelligence, integrity, sense of responsibility and ability to comprehend and analyze details.
6. Experience in accounting and/or patient billing a plus.
1. The Information Systems Support Specialist is frequently required to stand, walk and reach with hands and arms and is also required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel and crouch.
2. The Information Systems Support Specialist must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
