Description

The Supervisor Pharmacist In-Charge (PIC) executes the duties designated and legally required by the New Jersey Board of Pharmacy (NJBOP). The Supervisor will ensure compliance with all NJBOP regulations along with other state and federal laws. The Supervisor will supervise operations for the assigned pharmacy and collaborate with other system pharmacy services to ensure organizational consistency of all pharmacy services. This position participates, but is not limited to, the hiring, firing, discipline, evaluations of pharmacy personnel working in the assigned pharmacy under his/her supervision. Pharmacy personnel under the Supervisor supervision consist of staff pharmacy technicians, staff pharmacists, team leaders, and to some degree, pharmacy leadership working under the PIC's assigned pharmacy license.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Degree from accredited school of pharmacy required.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Current New Jersey State license as a Registered Pharmacist required. Registration with the NJBOP as Pharmacist-In-Charge required, Advanced Certification, Residency or Advanced Degree is preferred or as mandated by ASHP or governing agencies.

EXPERIENCE: Strong operational pharmacy background. Must demonstrate extensive knowledge of current regulations (USP, NJ Board of Pharmacy, NJ DOH, Joint Commission, CMS, DEA), and ASHP best practices. Management experience highly desirable.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Potential for exposure to infectious patients or materials is negligible. Potential for exposure to hazardous and toxic substances (including chemotherapy, cytotoxic drugs and cleaning solutions). Potential for musculoskeletal injuries if proper lifting and carrying techniques are not used.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Repetitive use of hands and fingers (e.g., use of a computer keyboard). May require lifting and carrying light loads (up to 40 lbs.), including boxes, equipment, IV solutions and stooping or kneeling (e.g., to pick up items from the floor; to remove and replace items on lower shelves; to file documents in lower file drawers). Sitting, walking, or standing for long periods of time (4-8 hours) are often necessary. Normal range of hearing and vision required to perform work and communicate.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

These positions report to the department leadership and supervise incumbents as assigned.
