The Research & Knowledge Specialist is a key member of the Marketing & Business Development team, supporting the firm’s legal and business research initiatives. This role leverages a range of legal and business databases to research expert witnesses, retrieve court filings, monitor legal news, and support the firm’s business development, thought leadership, and client work. This position requires the tenacity to track down needed information; the capacity to filter large amounts of data; and the ability to problem-solve with the highest level of attention to detail and accuracy. Intellectual curiosity and creativity are a plus. The Research Specialist should be equally effective collaborating with colleagues and working on self-directed projects.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes incoming research requests to ensure understanding of scope, objectives, and expected deliverables.
  • Provides high quality, thoughtful marketing and business development-related research using internal and external research tools including CourtLink, Law360, Bloomberg Law, LexisNexis, and Factiva.
  • Researches and summarizes information on expert witnesses and legal matters, including reports, testimony, and related filings.
  • Using our online databases and news sources, produces legal trends summaries, and shares competitor insights in support of business development initiatives.
  • Collaborates with colleagues across the team and firm on various marketing-related efforts, including providing research support for events and speaking engagements.
  • Maintains databases and internal tracking systems for information organization and reuse.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Three to five years of professional experience, ideally in a legal or professional services environment
  • Prior experience conducting business or legal research preferred.
  • Strong interest in legal issues and in the current litigation environment.
  • Proficiency with online research tools; prior experience with legal platforms such as LexisNexis, Westlaw or Bloomberg Law preferred.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and analytical skills; ability to independently assess research needs, prioritize resources, and evaluate the credibility and relevance of results.
  • Proven ability to organize, plan, and manage multiple projects simultaneously; flexible and responsive to shifting priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn, contribute, and take ownership of assignments and processes.
  • An inclusive and growth-oriented mindset, strong interpersonal skills, and an ability to work across differences.
