Horton, Inc. has an opening for a Quality Engineer to work at our location in Roseville, MN. This job is onsite Monday-Friday.

 

Position Summary:

Evaluates manufacturing and quality processes to deliver quality improvement and meet customer requirements.   Provides recommendations to the operations team and executive staff on methods and best practices to improve product quality.  Requires the use of quality tools best practices to achieve results and monitor improvement.

Responsibilities

Quality Engineer - Responsibilities:

 

1. Supports Quality System Improvements and Operations.

  • Provides input to design and manufacturing engineering department regarding quality improvements.
  • Manages and deliver global lean projects at three manufacturing locations.
  • Evaluates new and current global suppliers to meet quality requirements.
  • Provides risk assessment for key suppliers and makes recommended actions.
  • Uses quality core tools to deliver project results.

2. Project Leader for Continuous Improvement Projects to deliver Quality Improvement.

  • Alignment of IATF 16949 requirements, customer requirements and process improvements.
  • Project leader for product traceability, shipping improvements, error proofing and PPM reduction.
  • Works with outside professional organizations on key projects.
  • Travels to all manufacturing sites to align process efficiency and best practices.
  • Participates in special projects to reduce PPM, COPQ and improve OTD to meet customer requirements.
  • Completes customer PPAP requests.

3. Uses Data and Problem-Solving skills to recommend Quality Improvements.

  • Provides 8D problem solving to determine root cause and preventative action for warranty returns and customer PPM.
  • Uses quality and APQP core tools.
  • Submits formal project charters to initiate quality improvement projects and manages projects until completion.

4. As with everyone on the team, other duties may be assigned to support the overall success of the company.



Qualifications



Quality Engineer - Qualifications:

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering, or equivalent, and broad experience in production or manufacturing engineering (2-5 years).

  • Green Belt certification is preferred with emphasis in Industrial machining, metal forming and plastic injection molding experience.

  • IATF knowledge is preferred but not needed.

  •  Ability to travel nights away up to 20% including International travel. Travel from 5-15% day travel trips to the manufacturing plants.

  • Demonstrate an expertise in problem solving skills, including being able to identify, investigate and countermeasure manufacturing or supplier related technical and / or systemic issues.
  • Possess the ability to be self-directed.
  • Able to build effective teams and the ability to work with suppliers, plant manufacturing, and purchasing to ensure the deliverables are met.
  • Experience with manufacturing processes for components.
  • Experience with automotive components and functional requirements.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States. No Visa sponsorship provided now or in the future for this position.

 

Additional Information:

The estimated hiring range for this position is $78,000 - $94,000 per year plus bonus. Compensation will increase within the range based on experience and qualifications.
