Responsibilities

1st Shift:  6:00 am - 3:30 pm, Monday through Thursday, 6:00 am - 2:30 pm on Friday - overtime on Saturdays as business needs dictate). With 30-minute unpaid lunch and two breaks.

 

Starting Pay $18.00/hour - Additional compensation may be available based upon direct experience.

Now hiring a Production Worker for our Pittsfield, New Hampshire manufacturing plant to perform sewing and non-sewing operations as we convert specialty cut fabric into high quality turnout gear.  In this role you will learn stitching operations and may also learn jobs in other areas as well.  All candidates will be hired on a temporary to permanent basis to start. 

 

Stitching (Sewing Operators)

  • Utilize a variety of industrial single needle, double needle and programmable machines to stitch one of over 100 operations needed to complete the turnout gear shell or liner.
  • Every operator is responsible for the quality of their work and is expected to support their departmental team by learning at least two additional operations.
  • Machine Operator roles (Snapping, Seam Seal, Automated Stitching, Trim)

Ability to use and understand a ruler and measurements.



Qualifications

  • 3 months minimum of sewing machine / stitching operation.
    • If lacking minimum experience, we will train you and you will start through our temporary agency before full time employment.
  • Able to read, write and speak basic English.
  • Background check, drug screen and pre-employment physicals is required.
  • Must be able to:
    • Stand stationary for 8 hours.
    • Walk unassisted for full shift.
    • Reach at or above shoulder height.
    • Perform repetitive tasks using hands, wrists, fingers, arms, shoulders.
    • Ability to hear noises clearly with or without hearing support assistance.
    • Vision - ability to see up close fine details, small components and tools while performing sewing and machine operation) with or without vision support assistance.
    • Good depth perception.
    • Able to lift and carry 1-25 pounds unassisted.
    • Work inside and around others.
    • Wear safety glasses for full shift and/or gloves if required for the task.
    • Work at a moderate pace.
    • Work proficiently individually and as a team.
    • Collaborate and communicate effectively, professionally, and respectfully.
    • Perform routine tasks.
    • Able to assist in team lifting of approximately 30 pounds.

 

Additional Requirements Preferred:

  • Previous experience in Sewing, Manufacturing, Machine Operation, Assembly, Quality Control and Inspection desirable.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
