Description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Patient Care Coordinator to join our Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery office. This role is essential in ensuring a seamless experience for patients by coordinating surgical procedures, handling financial discussions, and managing prior authorizations. The ideal candidate will have experience in patient registration, pre-certification, and payment collection.
Key Responsibilities:
Surgical Coordination: Schedule surgeries, obtain necessary surgery orders, and ensure all required documentation is in place.
Insurance & Prior Authorization: Manage pre-certification and prior authorization processes for procedures and surgeries.
Financial Discussions: Educate patients about their financial responsibilities, including insurance balances and cash payment options.
Patient Registration: Assist with new patient registration and ensure accurate entry of patient information.
Payment Collection: Collect co-pays, outstanding balances, and payments for self-pay procedures.
Communication: Act as a liaison between patients, surgeon, and insurance companies to streamline the surgical process.
Compliance: Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
Qualifications & Skills:
Experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in plastic or reconstructive surgery.
Familiarity with insurance verification, pre-certifications, and prior authorizations.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Ability to handle sensitive financial discussions with patients in a professional manner.
Proficiency in medical scheduling software and electronic health records (EHR).
Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in patient registration, pre-certification, and financial counseling.
Knowledge of insurance billing and medical terminology.
