About the role

A Material Handlers" duties involve a wide range of tasks related to receiving and shipping materials. These tasks may include, but are not limited to: loading and unloading shipments, organizing inventory, ensuring materials are delivered to the correct locations in a timely manner, preparing, managing, and tracking shipments. This includes retrieving items, verifying orders, packing goods, generating shipping labels, sorting packages, updating inventory, and processing returns. The Material Handler will also be involved in coordinating with freight forwarders, shipping agents, and carriers to arrange transportation and ensure timely delivery and handle documentation, including invoices, customs declarations, and export/import permits.


What you"ll do

  • Preparation and Packaging:
    • Retrieving items: Locating and gathering items needed for shipment.
    • Verifying orders: Ensuring the correct items and quantities are included in each order.
    • Packing goods: Selecting appropriate packaging materials and packing items securely.
    • Generating shipping labels: Creating labels with accurate shipping information.
    • Weighing and measuring packages: Determining shipping costs and ensuring compliance with weight and size restrictions.
  • Shipping and Logistics:
    • Sorting packages: Organizing packages by destination and shipping method.
    • Coordinating with freight forwarders, shipping agents, and carriers: Arranging transportation and tracking shipments.
    • Handling documentation: Preparing and submitting invoices, customs declarations, and other required paperwork.
  • Customer Service and Communication:
    • Answering shipping inquiries: Providing customers with information about their shipments.
    • Collaborating with management, vendors, and transportation departments: Working with different team to ensure smooth operations.

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of transportation regulations and logistics principles.
  • Experience with forklift operation, pallet jacks, and shipping software (ERP systems).


Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in shipping and receiving, or similar roles,
  • Experience with WMS or other warehouse management software (NetSuite preferred).
  • Familiarity with various shipping software platforms.
  • Forklift Certified.


Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years relevant work experience in shipping or logistics.



US Wage Range:

$28 - $32 / hour


Location:
Clarksburg, MD - Full-Time In-Office

The salary range for this role is an estimate and is based on a wide variety of compensation factors. The salary offered to candidates will vary based on a variety of factors including (but not limited to) relevant work experience, education, specialized training, critical expertise, training, and more.
