We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our Finance team. This position is responsible for performing general ledger reconciliations, supporting the month-end close process, and assisting with various state tax filings. The position will also contribute to audit preparation and other finance-related projects.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Reconcile, analyze and track assigned general ledger accounts on a timely basis and resolve any resulting discrepancies.
  • Review expense coding for accuracy and work closely with the Accounts Payable team to ensure proper classification.
  • Assist with corporate month end close process.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries and income statement account analysis.
  • Prepare assigned budget vs. actual reports monthly, review expense coding to align with GAAP and the budget.
  • Support the Business Planning and Analytics team during the budget development and quarterly reforecasts.
  • Manage fixed asset accounting using FAS software.
  • Maintain prepaid schedules and prepares monthly cost allocation.
  • Respond to auditor inquiries related to general ledger reconciliations and assist with audit preparation as needed.
  • Review and file sales tax returns for each state and prepare property tax filings.
  • Special projects as requested.
  • This role does not have any direct reports.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of one year of substantive relevant experience required.
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Degree in accounting or finance highly preferred.
  • An ideal candidate will have 1 - 3 years of experience in general accounting.
  • Prior experience in a professional services firm preferred.
  • Strong PC capability. Proficiency in Excel with experience using pivot tables and extracting data from systems required.
  • Prior experience using an accounting program required.
