Intern: Fuel Handling Equipment Rapid Prototyping Engineer
The successful candidate will assist full time engineers in the Natrium Plant Delivery Fuel Handling Group with design, procurement, and assembly of prototypic sub-assemblies for Natrium Fuel Handling Equipment. The candidate will interface with the design and test organization primarily, but will also work with the procurement team as necessary to establish parts contracts.
Responsibilities
• Work with experienced engineers and designers to develop low cost, rapid prototypes of fuel handling equipment sub-assemblies
• Work with procurement and test to obtain machine parts for assembly.
• Oversee assembly in the Everett Lab as necessary.
Key Qualifications and Skills
• The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly and display respect and a desire to foster teamwork.
• Currently in good standing at accredited university with focus on Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
• 3D CAD modeling experience desired; Solidworks preferred
• Hands-on mechanical engineering experience a plus
• General knowledge of energy a plus
• Strong problem-solving skills with experience researching or deriving information from technical publications
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work on tasks and teams that require a multi-disciplinary approach
• Ability to work on multiple tasks concurrently during a given work week
• Ability to work with minimum direction to solve challenging problems

• Travel required: 0-5%
