Description:

Position Summary:

Gain practical experience across multiple engineering focuses- die casting, tooling, heat treatment, machining, and quality- while contributing to process optimization and improvement.


Education and Experience:

Pursuing a 4-year degree in the relevant engineering field

  • Knowledge of TS 16969 quality system is preferred
  • Forklift certification may be required

Skills, Knowledge, and Competencies

  • Application of engineering calculations
  • Manage projects across multiple disciplines within Aludyne
  • Create technical documents summarizing data analysis and conclusions
  • Ability to present technical information
  • Additional duties as assigned by the supervisor, not otherwise specified in this position description
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree within an accredited program, seeking a degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or other relevant science or engineering field
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Able to work independently and with a team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical, statistical, and problem-solving skills

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyze casting defects and identify root causes to improve part quality
  • Assist with process trials to optimize die casting process parameters
  • Perform data analysis
  • Create and maintain work instruction documentation
  • Assist in the development of quality control procedures
  • Maintain detailed records of experimental results
  • Prepare detailed records of experimental results
  • Prepare detailed reports of results, findings, and next step recommendations
  • Troubleshoot production problems
  • Take on additional responsibilities as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; be able to handle and/or feel objects, tools, or controls; and to communicate. The employee is occasionally required to walk, climb, or balance; bend, kneel, squat, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds, but in certain situations may be required to lift up to 50 pounds or more safely using proper lifting techniques. Vision abilities required by this job are the same as needed for a driver's license in the state in which the person lives, and will be demonstrated by maintaining that license.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be trained in LOTO to allow them to work on movable mechanical parts. The employee will be trained and provided with all needed PPE to protect against exposure to loud noises, dust, and heat (molten aluminum). The employee will be trained in the use of fall protection for occasional work in high places. The employee will be trained on the basics of arc flash to gain knowledge of what to avoid electrically. The employee will be required to wear the protective clothing and equipment designated in work instructions and procedures.
