Description

We are currently seeking a Geotechnical Construction Engineer to join our Wagman Heavy Civil team.

Wagman is a fourth generation, family-owned company with offices in Pennsylvania and Virginia and is headquartered in York, PA. Founded in 1902, Wagman is a nationally recognized leader in the industry. We are multi-faceted construction firm with major operations in heavy civil, general construction and geotechnical construction services. Core competencies include design-build, infrastructure, marine construction, modified concrete, grooving and grinding, and geotechnical construction services.

This is a safety sensitive position requiring work on construction sites with various safety hazards inherent in heavy construction.

This position is subject to drug testing and compliance policies associated with our status as a Federal Contractor.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science Degree: Structural, Civil and/or Geotechnical is required

• Familiar with geotechnical work: auger, earth retention, soil foundations and foundation support systems.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Strong prioritization and organizational skills; detail-oriented

Essential Functions

  • • Project estimating

  • • Work plan preparation

  • • Willing to assist project manager on related project requirement (QA/QC, maintaining productivity records, evaluating and/or tracking project cost and performance of the engineering system and applicable).

  • • Helps to coordinate with suppliers, subcontractors, and superintendents to ensure that the project is built per plan.

  • • Responsible for building schedules, OnBase invoice coding, review timecards and enter time in Heavy Job.

  • • Order materials / tools required for the job, track quantities, run production reports and review with field crews.

  • • Complete shop drawings, draft RFIs and assist with submittals.

  • • Develop critical work plans for the project to be completed safely and on time and implement the plans in the field.

  • • Provides technical information to company supervisor and contractors to ensure work complies with all engineering standards, codes, specifications, and design instructions.

  • • Reviews, analyzes, and resolves field construction problems, discrepancies, or interferences with contractors.

  • • Provides interpretation of plans, detail sheets, and specifications for contractors or craft supervision.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to lift up to 30 pounds from ground level to waist level.
  • Able to bend, squat and kneel occasionally throughout a scheduled work shift.
  • Able to climb ladders, if required.
  • Continuous standing and walking required while outside.
  • Able to perform simple grasping and fine manipulation tasks with both hands.
  • Working outdoors in wet, muddy, cold, hot, and humid weather, may occur during site visits.
  • Acceptable corrected vision (in both eyes) and acceptable corrected hearing required.
