The Senior Director of Medical Staff Office (SDMSO) reports to the Chief Medical Officer and provides leadership, management and operational oversight of the medical staff office. The SDMSO that acts as a liaison between medical professionals and TrueCare administration overseeing the daily operations of medical staff services, ensuring the timely and accurate onboarding, credentialing, privileging, and compliance with regulations and accreditation standards for physicians and other medical staff and peer review of healthcare providers. The SDMSO also manages clinical student rotations, ensuring a seamless and compliant process for students working alongside medical professionals. The SDMSO is responsible for maintaining the integrity and compliance of medical staff processes, while fostering collaborative relationships between providers, clinical staff, and external stakeholders. The SDMSO maintains responsibility for monitoring all applicable regulatory laws and statutes (state and federal) and accreditation standards, as well as the Medical Staff Bylaws, rules and regulations, and TrueCare policies for compliance by the medical staff organization.
Responsibilities:Â
- Provider Onboarding:
- Oversee and manage the provider onboarding process, ensuring all required documents, training, and compliance materials are completed.
- Collaborate with human resources, department heads, and other stakeholders to streamline the onboarding process for new providers.
- Direct the orientation and training of new providers to familiarize them with policies, procedures, and hospital systems.
- Provider Credentialing and Privileging:
- Oversee and manage the credentialing, recredentialing, and privileging processes for all providers, ensuring timely completion and compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards.
- Ensure accurate and up-to-date provider files are maintained, ensuring that all required licensure, certifications, and malpractice insurance information is current and compliant.
- Coordinate with insurance companies, hospitals, and regulatory bodies to ensure credentialing is completed accurately.
- Provider Peer Review:
- Develop, implement, and maintain the peer review process for medical providers, ensuring adherence to established protocols and compliance with industry standards.
- Coordinate peer review activities, ensuring the scheduling of meetings, preparation of documentation, and follow-up and completion of agreed upon actions.
- Track provider performance and facilitate continuous quality improvement initiatives based on peer review findings.
- Clinical Student Rotations:
- Coordinate clinical student rotations, ensuring compliance with educational institution requirements, licensing boards, and institutional policies.
- Serve as the primary liaison between academic institutions, clinical staff, and students.
- Monitor and ensure the availability of suitable clinical opportunities for students, aligning rotation schedules with provider availability and clinical needs.
- Oversee the evaluation of student performance and provide feedback to academic institutions and providers.
- Leadership and Staff Supervision:
- Supervise and mentor the medical staff office team, providing direction and guidance to ensure all functions of the office run smoothly and efficiently.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations, identify training needs, and implement strategies to enhance the team's performance.
- Foster a collaborative work environment and work closely with other departments to ensure provider and student needs are met.
- Compliance and Documentation:
- Ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements related to credentialing, privileging, provider oversight, and clinical student rotations.
- Ensures medical staff operates within guidelines established by Medical Staff bylaws or other governance documents that are meant to ensure TrueCare compliance.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and best practices.
- Prepare and submit reports for internal stakeholders and regulatory agencies as required.
- Other Duties:
- Participate in departmental and cross-functional meetings to ensure alignment of medical staff services with organizational goals.
- Provide ongoing education and support to staff and providers regarding policies and procedures related to onboarding, credentialing, and peer review.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business, or related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or relevant and progressively more responsible experience.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in medical staff services, focus on provider credentialing, onboarding, peer review, and clinical student rotations.
- Minimum 7 years leadership or management experience in Credentialing and Medical Staff Services.
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations, including HRSA standards, CMS guidelines, and state and federal requirements.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Experience with credentialing software and databases.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and collaborate with diverse teams.
- Occasional travel may be required for provider or student rotation management.
Preferred Qualifications:- Master’s degree in healthcare administration, business, or related field.
- Certification through the National Association of Medical Staff Services (NAMSS).

The pay range for this role is $132,000 - $212,000 on an annual basis.

If you are hired at TrueCare, your final base salary (within the pay range), will be determined based on factors such as education, knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider the internal equity of our current team members when determining any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical to allow for future and continued salary growth.
