Responsibilities

As our R&D Manager in New Product Development you will lead our team in developing products that meet customer needs and company standards. You will collaborate cross-functionally to ensure the successful launch and performance of new products.

You will report to the Director of Engineering for Bevcorp, under our DF&H Division.

 

On a given day, you may:

  • Manage and lead the R&D Engineering team, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment. Mentor and develop team members to maximize their potential and contributions to the organization.
  • Drive the R&D Engineering team to achieve New Product Development (NPD) project deliverables, timelines, and launch requirements.
  • Contribute to the development of R&D strategies that align with company objectives. Identify and evaluate new technologies and trends to drive innovation and maintain a competitive edge.
  • Cultivate a culture of continuous improvement within the R&D department, encouraging experimentation, learning, and adaptation.
  • Lead and contribute to the ideation, conceptualization, and development of innovative products.
  • Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, technologies, and materials relevant to the business.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate the voice of the customer and market needs into actionable product concepts.
  • Stay informed about advancements in material science and industrial standards, ensuring products remain at the forefront of the industry.
  • Oversee the prototyping and testing phases of new product development, ensuring designs meet technical specifications, quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
  • Work closely with internal teams, including sales, marketing, manufacturing, and quality, to ensure the seamless integration of new products into the sales and production pipeline.
  • Communicate effectively with external partners, suppliers, and industry experts to foster collaboration and stay informed about industry best practices.
  • This is a hands-on management position that may require designing and developing parts and assemblies using SolidWorks.
  • Releasing and checking of detailed drawings may be required.

Requirements for the role

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field is required. A Master's degree or higher is preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the packaging industry, with a focus on food and/or beverage. General machine and system design experience may be acceptable based on the level of experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in New Product Development and phase/gate project management launches, with a proven track record in research and development of new products.
  • Experience with controls engineering and HMI/PLC programming using Allen Bradley Software or similar is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and quality standards.
  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Must be self-motivated with an internal drive to identify, align, commit to, and achieve goals
  • You must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship now or in the future.

Travel & Location

  • You will be on site at our Eastlake, OH facility. You may need to travel to other teams to perform testing.
  • You may need to travel to customer facilities to support machine commissioning and validate testing during New product Development Beta machine.
