JOB DESCRIPTION

RESPONSIBILITIES

This is a key position within the Enterprise R&C Corporate Controllership team which will be responsible for coordinating the Company’s legal entity rationalization process. Sherwin-Williams is a global organization composed of many legal entities, and we continue taking on new companies upon completion of acquisitions. As such, the Tax and Legal teams strategically identify opportunities to rationalize and consolidate legal entities in order to save administrative costs, reduce risk, and drive efficiencies. This position will interact with several functional areas, such as Tax, Treasury, Legal, Controllership, Accounting COE, SBS, and Group Finance for the business units, providing exposure to many different areas of the global Sherwin-Williams business. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate legal entity rationalization activities with various stakeholders and organize recurring meetings to manage progress, work through challenges, and ensure adherence with project deadlines.
  • Manage the legal entity rationalization checklist. Prepare and update detailed process documentation (narratives, flowcharts, etc.) for strategic transactions. This includes documenting the procedures as well as assumptions/standardization efforts so that strategic transactions are accounted for consistently across the global finance organization.
  • Lead legal entity rationalization entry preparation and accounting coordination. Work with the Global Accounting & Intercompany COE to review and understand intercompany transactions and equity relationships.
  • Reconcile US GAAP vs Statutory ledgers and assess underlying system and mapping implications. Once the transaction is finalized, review final trial balances, coordinate closure of companies, and prepare documentation as needed.
  • Prepare account reconciliations and monthly reviews of closed companies prior to final closure during the annual housekeeping period. This includes monitoring both US GAAP and Statutory ledgers to ensure activity is recorded correctly prior to a company’s final closure.
  • Record USD overrides to properly reflect equity balances at the correct historical FX rates as part of the consolidation process. This includes recording adjustments for dividends and other changes in the Company’s equity relationships.
  • Involvement in key company initiatives and various system or process implementations.

Because this role involves access to confidential financial information, the Company has determined that a review of criminal history is necessary to protect the business and its operations and reputation and to provide similar protections for its clients and potential investments.
