POSITION DESCRIPTION


Title: Junior Credit Analyst

Salary Range: Based on Experience

FLSA: Exempt

Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00 – 5:00

Category: Full Time

Reports To: Senior Credit Officer



SUMMARY


Commercial and Agribusiness Junior Credit Analyst is responsible to analyze various historical and projected financial statements of individuals and businesses to identify the degree of risk involved in extending credit. The findings are presented into a detailed report for approval or denial by executive management and/or loan committees. The report includes but is not limited to the preparation of cash flow analysis, ratio analysis, thorough industry and market analysis, well defined sensitivity analysis, and determination of credit risk in accordance with bank policy and direction of the Chief Credit Officer. Will liaison with other departments regarding lending activities and other duties as directed by management.


Assures compliance with all Bank policies and procedures, as well as all applicable state and federal banking regulations.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES


  • Obtains loan request information from commercial lender or borrower to analyze credit information, financial statements and other related information pertaining to the loan.
  • Research background documentation and reviews personal and business financial statements and tax returns.
  • Analyzes financial information and prepares the primary analysis for the lender.
  • Communicates with Lenders to obtain financial statements on existing borrowers to ensure proper analysis is complete.
  • Review financials and analyze customer information.
  • Prepare a clear and concise loan memorandum for approval/denial of credit requests.
  • Analyzes loan data on new, renewal and existing loans, including data provided by credit bureaus, other financial institutions and bank files.
  • Provides technical advice and assistance to loan officers as needed.
  • Prepares spreadsheets, reports, summaries, and opinions for financial institution officers on new, renewal and existing loans.
  • Conduct thorough financial, cash flow, and collateral analysis of credit requests.
  • Reconcile financial statements and identify discrepancies and variances.
  • Assign risk rating outlining strengths and weaknesses of each credit.
  • Perform recommendations based on analysis and assessment of risk within the framework of the Banks credit culture, current economic condition, and industry trends.
  • Clear and concise technical writing with understanding of accounting, various financial statements, ratios, forecasting, and concepts.
  • Work closely and effectively communicate with the lenders and/or accountants (both in writing and orally) with respect to questions regarding financial information and customers operations.
  • Efficiently manage deadlines in high-pressure work environment.
  • Effectively answer all relevant questions with regards to credit analysis.
  • Represents Sauk Valley Bank in various community, civic, and community reinvestment functions to further enhance the Bank's image and develop additional business.

The Junior Credit Analyst position performs duties specific for the position and other functions as designated by management.

The position of Junior Credit Analyst is not responsible for the supervision of any employee(s).



ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY


The environment for this position is an open office that is mostly clean and comfortable, where exposure to the outside weather elements and some minor annoyances such as noise, odors, drafts, etc. may occur. The incumbent is in a non-confined office-type setting in which he or she is free to move about at will.


The incumbent in the course of performing this position spends time writing, typing, speaking, listening, lifting (up to 25 pounds), driving, seeing (such as close, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and adjusted focus), sitting, pulling, walking, standing, and reaching.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or agribusiness and preferred
  • Preferred minimum of one year experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Work related experience should consist of credit analysis or underwriting.
  • Excellent financial analytical skills with sound judgement and decision making abilities
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Ability to organize and prioritize to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office applications.
  • Knowledge of related state and federal banking compliance regulations, and other Bank operational policies
  • Ability to deal with difficult problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision while performing duties
  • Current driver's license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage if required to drive in the course of performing assigned duties and responsibilities.
  • The incumbent must be able to perform this position safely, without endangering the health or safety to him/herself or others.

Salary Range $45,000.00 - $55,000.00
