Shipping Clerk Job Summary: 

The Shipping Clerk plays a vital role in the efficient operation of our renewable energy manufacturing plant by preparing the outgoing shipments and coordinating with receiving agent and inventory department on incoming parts to meet customer needs. The Shipping Clerk ensures that all outgoing shipments are packaged and documented to meet quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate shipping records of all outgoing shipments, including parts, materials, and finished products. 
  • Communicate any shortages or discrepancies to the Inventory Department.
  • Ensure proper packaging and labeling on all outgoing shipments to ensure safe and secure transportation. Adhere to shipping guidelines and regulations to prevent damage during transit.
  • Coordinate with Quality Control Department prior to shipping, for pictures, for documentation, for accuracy, and on time delivery. 
  • Prepare shipping documents, including packing lists, bills of lading, and shipping labels. Ensure that all paperwork is complete, accurate, and filed according to company procedures. All packing lists will be filed in the corresponding blue sales folder upon shipping for Theodore and Brewton. Work with Accounts Receivable when orders are shipped. 
  • Coordinate and schedule with Logistics in Theodore for internal Fleet pickups and deliveries and external logistics when needed. Communicate with Logistics manager at least a day in advance to coordinate shipping needs. Assist Logistics in tracking shipments in transit and communicate any delays or issues. Contacting Logistics manager on the arrival of kits/parts at the customers’ facilities. Ability to answer the phone or emails for any questions from the truck drivers and 3rd party logistics companies. 
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures while performing shipping clerk tasks. Maintain a clean and organized work area to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Order shipping supplies, such as pallets, boxes, tape, and shrink wrap.
  • Collaborate with Shipping Lead and other departments, including production, inventory, fleet management, logistics, and quality control, to coordinate shipping activities and resolve any issues or concerns that may arise.
  • Other Job Duties as assigned by the Site Manager.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or training in logistics or supply chain management preferred.
  • Prior experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Familiarity with kitting, assembly, and packaging processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in using shipping software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Willingness to adhere to safety guidelines and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and perform physical tasks associated with shipping and receiving activities.
  • Standing, bending, and walking for extended periods may be required.
  • Ability to speak and read English fluently, and have good written and verbal communication 
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities are a plus 
  • Possesses ethical behavior, attention to detail, self-motivation, precision, and enforces quality standards 
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly 
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time, squat, kneel, and crawl. 
  • Operate forklift and other material movers
  • Ability to work overtime, and after-hours when required.
