Function of Position:
Provides in-person clinical instruction in dental hygiene and/or dental assisting courses.
- Prepares and delivers learning activities to achieve course outcomes in the clinical classroom.
- Evaluates and grades students' clinical performance, laboratory work, assignments, and projects.
- Maintains and submits student attendance records, grades, and other required documentation by specified deadlines.
- Is available to students for academic coaching.
- Is available for periodic meetings with supervisors, division, or the College, relative to teaching duties, training, and development.

Required Qualifications:
- For clinical dental hygiene: NYS Registered Dental Hygienist and three years of full-time dental hygiene experience.
- For clinical dental assisting: NYS Registered Dental Assistant, NYS Registered Dental Hygienist, or NYS Licensed Dentist, and three years of full-time clinical dental assisting, dental hygiene, and/or dental experience.
- Demonstrates and provides highly developed clinical skills, including preventive therapies, radiographic principles, interpretation and techniques, dental materials, 4-handed dental assisting, periodontal instrumentation, and advanced periodontal techniques.
- Ability to educate and train students to achieve entry-level competencies based on accreditation standards and program requirements.
- CPR & AED for Health Professionals - certified.
- Mandated Reporter Training, current 2025.
- Infection control/HIPAA compliant.
- Evidence of current NYS required continuing education units.
- Ability to teach courses within the program.
- Evidence of proficient communication skills (interpersonal, speaking, and writing).
- Evidence of proficient organizational skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and patient management software.
- Desire to teach in person at local clinical site(s).
- Commitment to supporting an inclusive environment on campus.
- Evidence of respect for and understanding of people with diverse backgrounds, abilities, and needs.

Preferred Qualifications:
- For Dental Assisting - Five or more years of experience as a full-time 4-handed dental assistant, clinical dental hygienist, and/or clinical dentist.
- For Dental Hygiene - Five or more years of full-time clinical dental hygiene experience.
- Knowledge of dental materials and procedural armamentarium.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field.
- Teaching experience, general.
- Teaching experience in dental assisting, dental hygiene, and or dentistry.
- Clinical and/or didactic teaching methodologies coursework/continuing education.
- Evidence of an understanding of a humanistic approach to clinical and /or didactic practices.
- Knowledge of, or experience in, implementing a variety of teaching strategies.
- Awareness of the potential value of technology as a tool for teaching.
- Experience with computerized student record management.
- Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently.
Additional Information:Pay Rate for Fall 2025 & Spring 2026: Determined on adjunct rank and ranges from $1,217- $1,484 per contact hour.

These positions are filled on an as needed basis and are on-going recruitment efforts.
