Description:

  • CRI is seeking a dynamic and experienced FOIA and Privacy Project Manager to lead a team of five in delivering mission-critical services related to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and the Privacy Act of 1974, onsite in Washington, DC. In this pivotal role, you will oversee program performance, ensure adherence to privacy regulations, and maintain the integrity and efficiency of FOIA operations through rigorous quality control and reporting.

    This position requires a hands-on leader with strong subject matter expertise who can guide policy development, drive process improvements, and provide strategic recommendations to enhance privacy practices. You’ll play a key role in auditing systems handling personally identifiable information (PII), coordinating breach responses, and supporting privacy-related training across the organization.

    Responsibilities & Job Duties:

    • Managing a team of 5 employees
    • Maintaining quality control plans and ensuring deliverables are accurate, timely, and comprehensive
    • Preparing all reports, including weekly progress reports to include metrics related to number of FOIA requests, statuses, backlogs, close-outs, and any issues (providing suggested solutions)
    • Providing recommendations regarding improvements to FOIA processes and procedures on a quarterly basis
    • Providing SME-level expertise for both FOIA and Privacy Act of 1974
    • Providing leadership to the team in the following areas:
    • Develop and provide privacy related training
    • Audit program and information systems that process PII
    • Draft and review privacy notices, policies and procedures
    • Assist with response to breach with privacy laws and policies
    • Review incident report and evaluate the risk
    • Assist and develop training related to privacy
    • Understanding the organizational policies and procedures for accuracy of solutions and deliverables to client
    • Demonstrating a commitment to quality and customer support


    Minimum Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree
    • Two or more years of project management experience, including responsibility for overseeing a project team and facilitating coordination and assignment of resources
    • Three years of experience as a working paralegal.
    • Experienced utilizing the MS suite of tool including SharePoint and Adobe Acrobat Pro
    • Excellent written and communication skills
    • Ability to perform job duties independently


    Preferred Education and Experience:

    • PMP or equivalent
    • Five years of project management experience
    • Five years of experience interpreting and applying the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), the Privacy Act (PA) 1974
    • Two years of experience processing FOIA requests using automation such as eDiscovery tools
    • Bachelors in one of these areas: Business Administration, Computer/Data Science, History, Information/ Data/Knowledge Management, International Affairs/Relations, Law, Library/Information Science, Management Information Systems, Paralegal Studies, Philosophy, Public Administration
