Overview
Program Management / Leadership
Invests in the people of DCH/W&C to support the development of a strong culture of safety
Promotes a culture of open communication and relationship building with staff
Provides administrative oversight to assure integration and DCH/W&C quality & safety performance in alignment with the overall OHSU and DCH/W&C strategic initiatives.
Provides positive leadership in the application of improvement principles and practices to promote systems thinking.
Promotes organizational learning through the teaching and sharing of successful application of improvement principles, models, and methodologies.
Works closely with improvement leaders across the rest of OHSU to stay aligned & integrated regarding mindset, methods & tools used for problem-solving.
Strategy Deployment
In collaboration with VP of Quality & Safety, CMO, and VP for DCH/W&C, develops appropriate deployment plan to achieve strategic goals.
Utilize structured problem-solving methodology at all levels of the organization.
Manages requests re: problem-solving support across DCH/W&C and assign resources as appropriate.
Team Management
Designs and maintains the improvement team structure and role assignments to assure that organizational strategic performance improvement requirements are adequately supported and resourced.
Assures proficiency through hiring, mentoring, development, and evaluation of each staff member to ensure the effective use of individual and group abilities and capabilities.
Directly supervises all improvement staff whose primarily assignment is DCH/W&C including recruitment, hiring, performance evaluation, staff development, and disciplinary actions as appropriate.
Consultation / Coaching
Serves as expert consultant and advisor in problem solving / OPEx methodologies.
Coaches senior leaders, professional staff leaders, directors, and managers.
Helps guide and lead the development and improvement of our OPEx management system.
Facilitates or co-facilitates interdisciplinary problem-solving sessions
Responsibilities
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree required.
Experience:
8-10 years of experience in performance improvement. Previous work in lean methodologies. Previous work in strategic planning. Formal experience in training and coaching.
3-5 years experience directly supervising and managing staff, assigning work, managing capacity
Job Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Competencies):
Demonstrate through previous position responsibilities:
Strong facilitation skills and abilities with evidence of successful lean projects.
Evidence of strong and effective coaching, staff development, and management skills
Evidence of excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience with strategic alignment, use of advanced lean tools and methods, and superb organizational skills
Ability to prioritize and allocate appropriate resources
Expertise in office automation computer software including word processing, power point, spreadsheet, flow diagram, and statistical programs.
Deep understanding of statistical and data analysis
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in healthcare, science, business, engineering, or statistics.
Master’s degree preferred.
RN preferred
5 years in healthcare setting preferred. Experience working with senior leadership at an organizational or service line level.
