We are currently seeking a Civil Engineer (Professional Engineer) to lead high-impact infrastructure projects. This role will oversee the planning, design, and technical execution of civil engineering projects. Collaborating with internal teams and external partners to ensure successful project delivery, while supporting compliance, estimating, and permitting processes for Duininck’s heavy civil | heavy highway, and golf divisions. Flexible, hybrid | remote work opportunity for experienced professionals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design and draft civil engineering projects including plans, calculations, and technical specifications.
  • Support the permitting process: stormwater (SWPPP), DNR Water Appropriation, wetlands, watershed, and plant permits.
  • Provide technical oversight and mentor junior engineers, surveyors, and support staff.
  • Partner with estimating and project management teams for plan reviews, quantity takeoffs, and constructability assessments.
  • Leverage GIS data for site evaluation, mapping, and support land acquisition due diligence.
  • Attend and lead project kickoff and pre-construction meetings; provide expert guidance throughout execution.
  • Champion innovation and continuous improvement within the engineering team.
  • Represent Duininck at customer and community meetings, collaborating with Sales and Business Development.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required (Minnesota preferred).
  • 5 years of experience in civil engineering preferred, with a strong background in site development, grading, utilities, roadway design, and stormwater management.
  • Experience with heavy civil/highway construction preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and HydroCAD. Familiarity with Revit, MIDS, ESRI ArcGIS, or related tools is a plus.
  • Proven leadership, mentoring, and project management abilities.
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, and collaborative skills.
  • Willingness to travel regionally as needed, with some flexibility for remote work arrangements.

Work Environment/Physical Demands

  • Walk, bend, kneel, lift, stretch and sit.
  • Work outside in all weather conditions.
  • Effectively handle lifting of various objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Regularly work extended | overtime hours, outdoors and in a variety of weather conditions at all project locations.
  • Travel is required.
