JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Marketing Manager, Event Operations is responsible for leading the strategic planning, project management and flawless execution of major company events including the Performance Coatings Group annual sales meeting and high-profile customer-facing experiences. This highly visible role requires strong leadership, cross-functional collaboration, operational excellence and the ability to create impactful experiences that reinforce brand identity, drive engagement and support business goals.

This individual will serve as the primary point of contact for Performance Coatings Group wide events, ensuring every detail is managed with precision from venue selections, vendor negotiations and management, agenda development, budget management and post-event analysis. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, excels at managing complex projects in matrixed organization and brings both strategic vision and detailed tactical implementation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

  • Event Strategy & Leadership
    • Lead end-to-end planning and execution of the PCG annual sales meeting and other marquee customer events as needed.
    • Collaborate with executive stakeholders, business unit leaders and internal teams to align event strategy with corporate priorities.
    • Develop clear project plans, timelines, budgets, site analysis and goals that support business objectives and delivers exceptional attendee experiences.
    • Assist with other projects as required to contribute to strategic business programs.

  • Cross-functional Project Management
    • Serve as the central project manager and communications lead across multiple teams including Creative Services, Division marketing teams and external vendors.
    • Facilitate regular planning meetings, track milestones, manage dependencies and ensure all stakeholders are aligned and informed.
    • Drive decision-making, mitigate risks and adjust plans to meet evolving needs and priorities.

  • Budget Oversight & Vendor Management
    • Develop and manage event budgets, ensuring accuracy in forecasting, cost control and reporting.
    • Source and manage third-party vendors (Production, AV, Event Management, Expo, DMC, transportation, etc) negotiating contracts, developing SOW and service level agreements to maximize value.
    • Oversee on-site execution, ensuring every aspect of the event meets brand, quality and safety standards.

  • Experience Design & Content Coordination
    • Partner with the Creative Service, Digital and external vendors to develop event themes, visuals, signage, communications and event experience needs.
    • Collaborate with business leaders to coordinate overall agenda, breakout tracks, support executive keynotes and other session needs.
    • Ensure consistent, on-brand attendee communications and seamless digital integrations (i.e. registration system, mobile apps, virtual elements).

  • Post-event Analysis & Continuous Improvement
    • Conduct post-event evaluations including attendee survey feedback, stakeholder debriefs, vendor debriefs and performance metrics.
    • Translate insights into actionable improvements for future events.
    • Establish scalable processes and documentation to continuously elevate operational efficiency and event impact.

QUALIFICATIONS

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

FORMAL EDUCATION:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing communications, event management or related field.

KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

Required:

  • 8+ years of experience managing corporate events or high-profile experiential marketing programs.
  • Strategic Influence – proven ability to engage, advise, influence and drive collaboration across stakeholders in a matrixed environment.
  • Project Management – exceptional project management and organizational skills with expertise leading large-scale events with complex timelines, multiple workstreams and cross-department coordination.
  • Operational Excellence – strong ability to manage budgets, streamline processes and optimize event logistics to ensure flawless execution and maximize return on investment.
  • Experience Design – skilled in crafting brand-aligned experiences that captivate audiences and reinforce strategic priorities.
  • Vendor & Budget Management – proficient in negotiating contracts, managing vendor performance and ensuring cost-effective event delivery within defined budgets.
  • Communication Skills – excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to develop and deliver compelling presentations, facilitate leadership alignment and support executive visibility through high-profile engagements.
  • Collaboration & Cross-Functional Leadership – Experience working across matrixed organizations with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Agility & Problem Solving – adaptable, calm under pressure and capable of navigating ambiguity and real-time challenges with a positive solution-oriented mindset to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Event Technology Proficiency – familiarity with event technology platforms to manage registration, breakout session tracks, travel, communications and reporting.
  • On-site Leadership – willingness and ability to travel to support in-person events, conduct site visits and manage vendor and stakeholder relationships on location.

WORK SCHEDULE:

  • Monday through Friday, 37.5 hours per week
  • Hybrid: This position is eligible to work in the office three days a week and has the option to work remotely two days a week.
