Job Purpose:
To help achieve IRM vision of being the highest performance shared service provision within DPDHL, whilst contributing added value to the group. This role is responsible for applying professional claims knowledge, administration, processing claims, analytical skills, and reporting services with limited supervision for the DPDHL divisions in alignment with the IRM Shared Service
Your tasks:
Business Alignment with DPDHL Operations:
- Adopt the DPDHL culture of professionalism, integrity, effectiveness, and dynamic attitude contributing to an internal environment of collaborative teamwork and promote a positive IRM service provision to customers.
- Establish and maintain effective business partner relationships with DPDHL division Business Partners (BPs), external customers, accounting, legal departments, and other key stakeholders.
- Communicates with key stakeholders IRM, legal, insurers, underwriters, HR, Labor, and Third Party Administer (TPA) within agreed authority.
- Provide clarification on claims dispositions, claim guidance and allocations.
- Coordinate BP’s interaction, reports, and claims calls with the goal of limited financial exposures on claims.
- Provide best in class claims training and education to internal and external customers.
- Plan, recommend and implement process improvement initiatives in alignment with key stakeholders and according to IRM guidelines.
- Provide guidance to the multiple BP’s as the trusted advisor.
- Escalates claim issues to management, BP’s, TPA and legal when needed.
Delivery of Subject Matter:
- Analyze, review, and manage claims processes as designated by Client Service Agreement with TPA supporting the gathering and recording of information related to claims in a timely manner and assist with questions from the Business Partner and be viewed as a Trusted Advisor.
- Oversees and guides Third Party Administrator with investigation of claims to determine the exposure to the business.
- Determine if subrogation exists and ensure the TPA is taking the steps necessary to initiate recovery efforts.
- Gives authority to TPA based on guidelines developed within the special handling instructions.
- Ensure accurate financial forecasting for the life of a claim.
- Makes financial decisions based upon Workers Compensation structured guidelines, policies and procedures with binding authority up to $25K.
- Roundtables claims with TPA, legal and case management to develop an agreed upon resolution strategy.
- On an as needed basis attends mediations, arbitrations, or trials, and is viewed as the decision maker during these proceedings.
- Communicates effectively with associates, internal customers, external customers, business partners, and management. Is viewed as a trusted advisor and the Workers Compensation subject matter expert when evaluating claims, in an effort to bring the file to the most cost-effective resolution directly impacting the bottom line.
- Uses appropriate cost containment techniques to reduce overall costs of claims (e.g., thorough investigation of potential incidents, strategic vendor partnerships, etc.).
- Prepares and completes payment requests as needed on a timely basis to avoid any statutory penalties or extra expenditures in adherence to the cash call requirements.
- Reviews TPA files to ensure correct and accurate information is timely reported and captured.
- Ensure that the TPA is using resources to mitigate exposure (Case Management, surveillance, background checks, prior medical records and findings are clearly documented in file notes).
- Ensure that required documentation (investigation, resolution strategy and resolution is correct and attached to the system).
- Produces and analyzes claim trending reporting, which will then be shared with management and used as consultative or expert advice on projects or to develop long term or short-term business strategies. These reports are valuable when determining how to move forward with department structures, needs and staffing requirements.
- Assists Manager with auditing claim files for Key Performance Indicators (KPI) trending and training purposes. These audits affect business operations depending on the outcomes. If they identify trends or area of concern, actions plans are implemented and if improvement is not achieved vendor changes may be implemented.
- Has a good understanding of multiple jurisdictions. Provides technical guidance within the claims department through mentoring, cross training, and knowledge sharing.
- Required to be on call 24/7 as needed, to triage critical claims and ensure the proper involvement by all claim professional and Business Partners to achieve the best outcome for our employees/customers.
Management:
- Manages workload and Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and timely resolution with limited supervision.
- Identifies assists and provides process improvement opportunities.
- Maintains quality of data through accurate and timely data entry.
- Manages the escalation of the approval process or claim resolutions issues with cross border stakeholders.
- Builds and maintains internal and external relationships.
- Prepares end of month reporting, scorecard, trend, and ad hoc reporting.
Your profile:
Qualifications & Affiliations: ? / X- Bachelor’s degree (Preferred) or equivalent Workers Compensation claims experience
Experience:- 5+ years of Workers Compensation claims handling (Required)
- All Lines Adjuster License (Preferred)
- Experience in Logistics (Preferred)
- Experience working with a Risk Management Information System (Preferred)
- Multi-jurisdictional/State experience/multi-State licensing (Preferred)
- Multi State licensing (Preferred)
- Experience in analyzing, negotiating, and strategizing claims (Required)
