JOB TITLE: Technical Control Specialist (TCS)

Salaried Non-Exempt

REPORTS TO: Manager of Engineering

DEPARTMENT: Engineering

BASIC FUNCTION:

To ensure accuracy, quality, and integrity of technical data outlets. To manage the control* and maintenance of all technical documents. To ensure adherence to record retention policies.

* Control: Ensure technical documents and their revisions are disseminated appropriately to all stakeholders, respecting confidentiality and usage classification.

GENERAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage and maintain the companies use of Technical Data Outlets:

Drawings, Owner’s Manuals, Website, EDOCs, E-Commerce, SPIs, Product Configurators

  • Support E-Commerce sales by maintaining website and associated Product Data.
  • Create and revise departments Technical Control procedures and processes in order to ensure optimal and efficient execution of work and to comply with the company Quality Management System.
  • Publish monthly PD Metrics: OM LRR, Outstanding EC Work, Etc…
  • Direct, guide, and assist department staff in the development and preparation of technical documents (e.g., drawings, calculations, reports, analyses, specifications) that are required in the execution of the department’s functions.
  • Continuously streamline and automate the effective dissemination of changes throughout Technical Control outlets to reduce the amount of “touches” each outlet requires.
  • Serve as department representative on inter-departmental committees and teams.
  • Initiate and execute projects to improve the departments Technical Control.
  • Exhibit interpersonal skills sufficient to perform as an active team member.
  • Communicate with customers, department personnel, supervisors, department managers and other company personnel to properly disseminate Technical Control activities and status.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of standard practices in engineering processes.
  • Knowledge of Best Practices for technical control.
  • Presentation skills to small-to-medium size audiences.
  • Teaching capabilities to small-to-medium size audiences.
  • Written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer skills: Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, SolidWorks.
  • Operation of office equipment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Lifting up to 20 pounds
  • Occasional bending
  • Ability to sit 7+ hours per day.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Occasional national and international travel.
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule.
  • Aid, assist, and advise the department manager on matters identified at the discretion of the department manager.
  • Ability to handle job-related stress.
  • Use behaviors that are positive and business-like as the cornerstone of relationships with internal & external customers.
  • Keep interactions with internal & external customers focused and efficient minimizing non-business-related topics.
  • Interactions with internal and external customers shall be courteous, ethical, and customer focused.
