Overview

EagleView, the leader in aerial imagery, is hiring a SENIOR STAFF ENGINEER in Strategic R&D. Our Research and Development Team is responsible for the company’s software pipeline that transforms millions of captured images into a unified collection of imagery that is accurately placed on the earth, well-aligned, and uniform in color, as well as transforming it into three-dimensional point cloud data, all of which are then used by various applications that are used by EagleView’s customers. Every pixel counts and we are continually creating solutions, finding algorithms, and reducing processing costs to make our results even better.

As a software engineer and scientist on the Research and Development Team you will have the opportunity to take on complex challenges and make improvements to key components in our image processing stack. Our processing pipeline performs distributed processing across thousands of nodes in the cloud. We are constantly working to improve the algorithms, the software, and the cost of processing. The role requires a strong attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and a drive to make things better. Responsibilities

  • Champion roadmap and feature work in image processing, providing technical leadership to team and advice to organization leadership
  • Use software and scientific professional concepts to drive innovation
  • Provide guidance in area of expertise to team and organization leadership
  • Proliferate best practices across the organization
  • Demonstrate expertise in image science, image processing, physics, mathematics, optics, and/or remote sensing
  • Engage in and deliver against complex problem sets, guiding other engineers to deliver
  • Partner with senior leaders to set technical direction for image capture and processing
  • Create and maintain documentation for image processing systems and algorithms
  • Participate in code reviews, research reviews, and feature planning
  • Design, implement, test, and deliver highly-scalable backend services leveraging AWS cloud tech

Qualifications

  • Graduate or post-graduate degree in Computer Science, Imaging Science, or a related scientific discipline, with sufficient years of applicable professional experience
    • Bachelor’s degree with 14+ years of experience
    • Master’s degree with 12+ years of experience
    • PhD with 10+ years of experience
  • Excellent problem solving and communication skills

Preferred

  • Experience with scientific libraries such as Ceres, Eigen, Metis, and Embree
  • Elevated knowledge of 3D geometry and multi-view geometry in computer vision
  • Experience with remote sensing and aerial imagery
  • Experience with computer vision, image segmentation, and structure from motion
  • Strong understanding of mathematical optimization
  • Elevated knowledge of C++, Data structures, OOP concepts, and all its applications
  • Robust design sense with the ability to extend large code bases cleanly
  • Experience with concurrency and distributed computing
  • Experience with Python, NodeJS, Go, and Groovy
  • Experience working in a cloud environment like AWS and services like S3, EC2, SQS, CloudWatch, Dynamo, CloudFormation, and ECR
  • Experience working with geospatial tools and libraries like Global Mapper, QGIS, and GDAL
  • Familiarity with Docker and container orchestration (Kubernetes, ECS, or similar)
  • Experience with common CI/CD methods and tools (Jenkins, Bamboo)

This is a full-time, remote role with a salary range of $167,000-$204,000, bonus eligible.
