Overview

Reporting to the FSQA Lead, North America, the Supplier Quality Assurance manager is a key member of the corporate FSQA team in managing food safety and quality standards in the Dole Packaged Foods supply and service provider chains.

When not traveling, this role provides flexibility to work in a hybrid environment of home and our Atwater, CA manufacturing plant. (Hybrid is defined as 3 times per week in the office).



Responsibilities

3rd Party Manufacturers

  • Perform qualification and approval assessments, including on site audits, for proposed 3rd party manufacturers.
  • Conduct Ways of Working (WoW) audits with strategic partners to develop best practice programs.
  • Engage with internal and external cross-functional teams to provide FSQA support for PDI projects in driving innovation and bringing new products to the US market through our project stage-gate process.
  • Perform routine product evaluations from 3PM partners and marketplace goods.
  • Work with 3PMs to resolve quality issues and create action plans to address below standard performance.
  • Establish ongoing continuous improvement activities with 3PM suppliers to deliver optimum performance metrics such as first-time quality and consumer complaint mitigation and compile 3PM scorecards for internal business reviews.

Material Suppliers

  • Conduct raw material risk assessment for all materials for the frozen foods sector and for other sectors as assigned.
  • Grant approvals and provide guidance to Procurement and PDI teams on new materials or proposed changes to existing materials.
  • Conduct qualification and approval assessments, including on-site audits where required, for proposed material suppliers and ongoing approvals for existing suppliers.
  • Collaborate with Procurement and PDI teams to develop, review and update raw material specifications.
  • Liaise with internal quality teams to review out of specification results on received materials and shelf-life extension requests.
  • Manage all material quality complaints with supplier quality teams to determine root cause and appropriate corrective and preventative actions.
  • Collect and collate data on supplier performance to compile monthly supplier scorecards.

Supply Chain

  • Working alongside corporate and global quality management to develop FSQA requirements for supply chain partners including warehousing and transport service providers.
  • Perform approval and ongoing assessments, including on site audits as necessary, of 3rd party warehouse operations.
  • Partner with supply chain team to implement and maintain quality SLA agreements with storage and logistic service providers.
  • Liaise with the supply chain team to review and resolve quality incidents within the logistics network.

Regulatory

  • Supports corporate team in management of FVSP program.
  • Conducts mock recall exercises with 3rd party warehouse facilities.
  • Liaise with internal regulatory team and external agencies to resolve issues on imported goods.
  • Manage due diligence testing on goods for the US market to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Qualifications



  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in quality operations in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of food safety and regulatory requirements including, but not limited to, Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FD&C Act) 21 U.S.C. 9, and GMPs (21 CFR 117, 21 CFR 111).
  • Experience in GFSI certification schemes such as SQF and BRC.
  • Experience in managing 3rd party supplier and vendor compliance, including experience conducting 3rd-party audits and certifications
  • Knowledge and quality operations work experience with “ready to eat” food categories

Education & Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Environmental Sciences, or business-related discipline is required
  • PCQI Certification preferred
  • FSVP and Lead Auditor training preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit and use the computer for extended periods of time; ability to answer phones and use a variety of office equipment; ability to lift 15 pounds and reach overhead.

Travel Requirements:

  • Up to 50% travel expected, domestic and international

FOR JOBS BASED IN CALIFORNIA:

Hiring Pay Scale: $100,000 to $115,000
