We are seeking an experienced Backend Software Engineer to architect, build, and optimize our complex backend infrastructure, focusing primarily on Go development while collaborating with our distributed team to design secure, scalable solutions. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise and problem-solving abilities to contribute throughout the product development lifecycle—from discovery and customer interviews to implementation—playing an essential role in advancing our technology stack through continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining comprehensive documentation.



Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a large backend application composed of many different services, languages, and technologies
  • Handle product support issues that may require backend code changes and/or database data correction
  • Ensure optimal performance of the central database and responsiveness to front-end requests
  • Collaborate closely throughout the day with other remotely located team members
  • Develop high-performance and efficient features with testable and reusable code
  • Build security and data protection into every feature
  • Document backend processes, including database schemas, as well as preparing reports as needed
  • Participate in product discovery activity, including customer interviews, story mapping, brainstorming, and prototyping
  • Recommend and implement improvements to processes and technologies
  • Keep informed of advancements in the field of Go development


Qualifications



Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technology related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered
  • 3 or more years’ experience as a backend software engineer
  • At least 2+ years’ experience as a Go developer
  • At least 1+ years’ experience with PostgreSQL

 

Skills and Abilities:

  • Extensive knowledge of Go, web stacks, libraries, and frameworks
  • Availability to help with urgent issues outside of normal working hours
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills
  • Experience with Node.js inside of AWS Lambda functions
  • SQL experience: being able to navigate normalized tables and optimize queries
  • AWS services (Lambda, CloudWatch, Elastic Beanstalk, SQS, SNS, etc.)
  • Proficient in designing and building public APIs
  • Working knowledge of IoT solutions and their implementation

 

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with Node.js in a production environment
  • Experience with React

 

Travel:

  • Ability to travel domestically as needed, no more than 10% of the time
