Description:

Semmes Murphey Clinic is committed to implementing a team-based approach to provide excellence in patient care. The role of the Surgery Scheduler is to work with other members of Semmes Murphey Clinic to provide patient services, and is expected to participate in the appropriate team activities with the objective of providing a high standard of patient and clinical service. The Surgery Scheduler will ensure the timely and efficient scheduling of SMC patients and assist in providing continuity of patient care through the duties detailed below within the Precertification and Scheduling Department.

Requirements:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Schedule surgeries at: SMC, Baptist Memphis, Methodist University, Methodist Germantown, St. Francis, and Baptist Collierville, as well as other facilities as indicated
  • Prepare daily excel reports of all next day surgeries
  • Work collaboratively with the physicians, nurses, SMC ASC, and outside facilities

EDUCATION, EXPERIANCE, & CREDENTIALS


Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Education
  • Previous Surgery Scheduling Experience Required

Preferred:

  • Insurance and pre certification experience


KNOWLEGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (365, Outlook, Excel, Word), Electronic Medical Records (EMR), medical practice software and internet applications
  • Effective oral and written communication
  • Can provide excellent customer service with a high level of confidentiality and discretion
  • Identify and solve problems in a timely manner
  • Manage various responsibilities with multiple deadlines and competing demands
