The VMI Technician is responsible for maintaining optimal inventory levels and replenishing GHX products at customer sites. This includes ensuring accurate stock levels, meeting inventory needs, and managing daily tasks to maintain customer satisfaction. The role involves both on-site and office/shop duties, requiring strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Role and Responsibilities
Customer Site Visits: Regularly visit customer locations to assess inventory levels, address stock needs, and maintain product availability.
Inventory Management: Create replenishment orders based on inventory data, ensuring customer stock is at required levels to meet demand and minimize shortages. Utilize internal systems to track inventory needs and provide updates to order status.
Order Fulfillment: Pick, pack, and deliver orders to customer facilities. Accurately estimate delivery dates based on inventory availability.
Material Handling: Lift and move boxes up to 60lbs, and ensure products are organized, stocked, and maintained in customer-designated areas.
Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams (Outside Account Managers, Customer Service Representatives, and shop associates) to ensure smooth operations and meet customer needs.
Problem Solving: Resolve any customer issues related to invoicing, documentation, delivery or inventory discrepancies.
Additional Responsibilities
Assist in office and shop duties as required.
Maintain good communication with vendors, employees, and customers.
Work independently while managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and site-specific access requirements.
Must be adaptable to changes in job responsibilities and tasks throughout the workday.
Participate in branch cycle counts, physical inventory and help keep inventory organized.
Participate in continuous improvement activities related to lean processes, safety, and quality.
Qualifications
Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift and carry up to 60lbs, work in non-climate-controlled environments. Work environments may involve stairs, ladders, and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Driver’s License: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Ability to pass random drug screenings.
Certifications: Ability to obtain and maintain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) and Safety Council basic safety and site-specific card.
Skills: Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-volume and high -pressure environment. Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Basic math and tape measure usage. Proficiency with basic computer systems
