This Cable Test Technician is based in our Wilsonville, Oregon cable site. Shift is Monday-Friday, day shift 8:00am to 4:30pm.

Summary/Objective: The Cable Test Technician will support Samtec Cable product and process development efforts by performing hands on testing to mechanical, environmental, basic electrical, dimensional, and cosmetic specifications. Individuals in this role will follow all safety procedures and policies and ensure that testing is performed in accordance with test plans and lab work instructions. This role requires individuals to be self-motivated, work well as part of a team, and be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
    • Perform various test inspections on various products based on test criteria from engineering trial plans, product drawings, work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOP).
    • Maintain accurate records of test results, perform basic data analysis, and clearly communicate results to engineering staff.
    • Support new test system development efforts through initial troubleshooting and debug, performing MSAs and Gage R&Rs, and documenting test procedures.
    • Work with integrity in a team environment to support business goals and objectives.
    • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
    • Prepare and test cable development engineering samples.
    • Perform preventive maintenance on test fixtures as required.
    • Effectively prioritize and manage multiple projects concurrently.
    • Perform initial root cause/failure analysis as needed.
    • Collaborate with product engineers on test results / setups.
    • Assist Test Lab Engineers with various projects (equipment maintenance, setup of new test procedures, documentation updates, assist with training, etc.).

Required Experience:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in related roles, manufacturing and/or laboratory experience is a plus.
  • Must be able to read and understand product prints, schematics, work orders, and standard operating procedures (SOP).
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations, basic statistics interpretation, identify basic functional problems, take corrective action, and interface with supervisors and engineers to solve problems.
  • Required to be proficient in using handheld measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, rulers, etc.
  • Experience in more advanced lab and measurement techniques, is preferred.
  • Required to be proficient in Microsoft office applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Experience in basic data analysis skills and software packages, is preferred.
  • Must be able to sit/stand for at least 90 consecutive minutes, and not suffer from any sensory deprivation and/or paralysis of the limbs.
  • Lifting Requirements: Light Work - Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds regularly from floor to waist.
Education:
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Post high school education (Associate Degree in a technical field) a plus.
