Function of Position:

A clinical instructor is a healthcare professional who teaches and supervises students in clinical settings. They are responsible for implementing LPN curricula, as provided by the MCC Healthcare Department, to ensure that students are prepared for real-world scenarios. Flexible work hours are required, including evenings and Saturday's. The clinical instructor reports to the Coordinator, LPN Program.

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Teach and supervise students in a clinical setting
  • Implement clinical education programs for nursing students that align with course objectives in the MCC LPN Program.
  • Teach and guide nursing students in carrying out patient assessments and developing care plans.
  • Provide supervision and guidance to nursing students in the delivery of patient care.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to provide the best clinical experience for nursing students.
  • Evaluate student performance and provide feedback to enhance their clinical skills.
  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation
  • Assist in the development of clinical policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with clinical and regulatory requirements.

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in nursing; or hold an associate degree in nursing and be enrolled in and actively pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher in nursing
  • A minimum of two years of experience as an RN in a clinical setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to lifelong learning and professional development.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of students, faculty, and healthcare professionals.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Earned master's degree from a regionally accredited higher education institution
  • Knowledge of NYS Professional Certification process, INB Banner System and Self-Service Banner
  • Clinical teaching experience is preferred.
  • Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently

  • Working Conditions: Clinical instructors work in a variety of settings, including hospitals, clinics, and medical schools.
  • Moving about while instructing and demonstrating skills to students; reaching, pulling, and pushing while demonstrating while using medical equipment; able to do repetitive tasks; remain stationary at a desk while typing; teaching in a medical facility setting for extended periods.



Additional Information:

Salary: Hourly wage is $40 to $60/hr. depending on experience and credentials.

Schedule: 10-14 hours per week.
