The Villanova University Band is seeking a musical and dynamic artist to lead the percussion section of our collegiate band. Candidates must have knowledge and experience coaching drumline for football game days, traditional percussion for our concerts, and drum set for our basketball games. We are seeking a candidate who is a talented and creative musician whose technical skills and musicianship can support the diversity of our performances as well as a range of student abilities. Attendance at VU BAND preseason in August is expected. Rehearsals are 4 hours/week (Mondays and Tuesdays from 6 – 8 pm). Attendance at home football games, concerts and other events are components of this position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The individual is responsible for leading sectionals and assessing student musicianship. Candidates are expected to arrange/rewrite drumline parts as needed and perform general percussion maintenance. Additionally, our candidate may be required to attend home basketball games and to play drum set during our winter break games.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • BM, BS, or BA in Music Performance/Music Education
  • 3+ years of professional work in the field is desirable.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Masters degree in Music Performance or Music Education preferred

Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours:
  • Rehearsal space setup will be required, including but not limited to ability to move & setup chairs, stands, and equipment.
  • Moving and maintenance of marching percussion equipment, and battery instruments is expected.
