About the Position 

We are seeking a skilled Sr. Document Controller to join our team and play a crucial role in managing the lifecycle of critical project documents for large-scale heavy civil transit programs. This is a long term, full-time, hybrid position located in Sacramento, CA.  

Responsibilities 

  • Support document control processes from document creation to final archiving. 
  • Provide support of incoming and outgoing documentation, ensuring all records are assigned correct metadata, versioning, and status. 
  • Apply and validate metadata against program standards (e.g., Document Numbering, Revision History, Status, Classification, etc.). 
  • Help monitor program documentation within a Document Management System (DMS) such as Aconex, SharePoint, TeamBinder, or similar. 
  • Support the team on document internal standards, regulatory, and contractual obligations (e.g., ISO 9001, project specs). 
  • Prepare and maintain document registers, metadata reports, and compliance logs. 
  • Support internal and external audits by providing accurate metadata logs, version history, and controlled copies.

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Technical Writing, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • 8+ years document control experience on heavy civil highways, roads, bridges, airports, or transit projects. 
  • Experience with full document lifecycle and metadata control across a high-volume document environment. 
  • Working knowledge of DMS platforms (e.g., Aconex, Asite, SharePoint, or similar). 
  • Familiarity with ISO standards and compliance frameworks. 
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly in metadata entry and validation.   
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite/Office 365 (e.g., Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) 

Compensation Details 

The salary range listed for this role is $70k-$130k/yr ($33-$62/hr.) The final salary offered is based on multiple factors and is thoughtfully aligned with each candidates level of experience, breadth of skills, total education achieved, certifications/licenses that have been obtained, etc.
