We are currently recruiting for a Field Service Technician II. In this role, you will provide technical field services in low-voltage communications. Scope includes maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and installation during visits to St. Louis regional customer visits and occasional nationwide travel. Also includes in-house activity involving facility maintenance, warehouse organization, and bench repairs.

What you will do in the position:

Core Field Service Activities

  • Maintenance: Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on equipment & systems at customer sites – typically quick-service restaurants – to ensure optimal performance and prevent failures.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose technical issues and identify the root cause of problems within drive-thru communication systems at customer locations.
  • Repairs: Perform necessary repairs on malfunctioning equipment at customer sites. May involve replacing parts, adjusting settings, or implementing software fixes.
  • Installation: Install new equipment at customer locations per manufacturer specifications and ensure proper functionality. May involve mechanical, electrical, and/or software installation.
  • Customer Service Visits: Travel to customer sites to provide technical assistance, answer questions, offer training, and build relationships.

In-House Activities

  • Facility Maintenance: Contribute to the upkeep and repair of the company’s facilities. May involve general maintenance, minor repairs, and involvement with major operational and facility improvements.
  • Warehouse Organization: Assist with the organization and management of the company’s warehouse, including inventory management, parts organization, and ensuring the efficient storage and retrieval of materials.
  • Bench Repairs: Perform repairs and assembly of equipment within the company’s workshop. May involve specialized diagnostic tools and soldering equipment.

What you will need to succeed in this position:

  • Technical Expertise in Communications Systems. Experience in low-voltage and preferably communication technologies. Specific knowledge of drive-thru communications is a plus.
  • Troubleshooting Skills. Ability to diagnose and resolve issues specific to drive-thru audio, connectivity, and hardware.
  • Understanding of Audio Systems: Basic knowledge of microphone and speaker operation, audio signal flow, and noise reduction techniques.
  • Hands-on Skills: Proficiency in low-voltage wiring, connector termination, basic electronics repair, and using relevant tools and test equipment (e.g., multimeters, audio testers).
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to think critically and find effective solutions to technical challenges in a fast-paced environment.
  • Organization Skills: Ability to manage time, prioritize service calls, and maintain organized work areas, parts, and tools.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with restaurant staff and managers, explaining technical issues, and documenting work.
  • Customer Service Orientation: Strong focus on providing excellent service and building positive customer relationships.
  • Mechanical and Electrical Aptitude: Hands-on skills in both areas are frequently utilized.
  • Adaptability and Flexibility: Willingness to travel on short notice and handle a broad variety of tasks.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.

Pay Range: $19.86/hour - $26.45/hour. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for the role. At HME you will have the opportunity to learn and grow while developing our future products.
