What You'll Be Doing
- Develop, lead, and evaluate high-impact alumni and donor engagement programs, including signature events such as Homecoming & Family Weekend, Alumni Hall of Fame, and the Golden Graduation Reunion.
- Manage alumni and donor communication channels, including the SIUE Magazine, electronic newsletters, social media platforms, and digital outreach campaigns to foster consistent and meaningful engagement.
- Partner with development officers to support fundraising goals by helping to identify, cultivate, and steward prospective donors.
- Oversee stewardship activities, including donor recognition events and personalized communications, to ensure donors feel valued and remain connected to the university.
- Align alumni engagement efforts with institutional advancement strategies to drive long-term philanthropic investment.
- Manage budgetary and financial aspects of alumni and donor engagement events, programs and initiatives.
- Assist in managing the SIUE Alumni Associate Board of Directors, including planning and execution of board meetings and special initiatives.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in communications, business administration, marketing, public relations, nonprofit management, or a closely related field.
- At least five years of experience in alumni relations, donor relations, fundraising, stewardship, event planning, public relations, communications, or volunteer management.
Preferred: - Experience in higher education or nonprofit development is preferred.
- Experience working with a volunteer board is also preferred.
- Strong project management, organizational, and communication skills (written and oral).
- Excellent interpersonal and public speaking abilities, with the capacity to engage and inspire alumni, donors, and volunteers. Experience in donor stewardship, including recognition programs and engagement strategies.
- Proficiency in digital marketing, social media, and CRM/database management.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of self-confidence, enthusiasm, and a strong customer service focus.
- Ability to manage multiple projects independently and within a team environment.
- Discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive information.

Due to the nature of working with a volunteer board and executing events and programs for alumni and friends, this role requires flexibility in scheduling, including frequent evening and weekend work. Additionally, local, regional, and national travel is required to engage with alumni, donors, and key stakeholders.
Physical Requirements:- Lifting and transporting: Ability to move and transport objects weighing up to 50 pounds occasionally; managing more than 25 pounds often.
- Standing/walking: Must be able to be in a stationary position, and also move to and from activities quickly for extended periods throughout the day, often across multiple consecutive days during event execution.
- Acquiring items at various heights: Frequent need to lower or raise oneself to move items at various heights, including overhead and below waist materials and equipment.
- Pushing/pulling: May need to push or pull heavy objects, such as carts or equipment, as needed.
- Climbing: Frequent need to ascend stairs, ladders, or step stools, depending on the work area.
- Manual dexterity: Fine motor skills required for tasks such as handling small objects or operating equipment.
- Visual acuity: Ability to assess and identify clearly at close range and at a distance, with or without corrective lenses.
- Communication ability: Must be able to communicate clearly to comprehend instructions and respond to alarms.
Work is predominantly performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Must also be able to raise, move and/or transport packages or other items, move about long distances, and drive a vehicle to deliver/pick up materials or attend events and meetings.
