Southern Illinois University Edwardsville is seeking a dynamic Catering Assistant to oversee and manage the food service for special group events such as banquets, receptions, and conference luncheons and dinners. This pivotal role will ensure exceptional service delivery, seamless event execution, and outstanding customer satisfaction across all catering operations.
What You Will Be Doing In This Role!
- Lead Catering Operations: Oversee food service for special events, including banquets, receptions, and conferences, ensuring all events run smoothly, on time, and to the highest standard.
- Collaborate on Event Planning: Work closely with Dining Services management to plan menus, coordinate event logistics, and ensure successful execution for all special group events.
- Maintain Inventory & Equipment: Manage catering-related inventory, monitor equipment maintenance, and ensure all supplies are stocked and in working order.
- Ensure Health & Safety Compliance: Uphold health, safety, and sanitation standards across food handling, service areas, and catering operations.
- Customer Relations: Address customer inquiries, feedback, and concerns with professionalism and efficiency, ensuring a positive experience at every event.

Minimum Acceptable QualificationsMinimum Qualifications: - High school graduation or equivalent.
- Two (2) years (24 months) of responsible work experience in food service that includes event planning within a catering environment.
