Overview:
Ready to make a difference? As a Financial Aid Representative, you'll be the friendly face (and voice) that guides students, parents, and staff through the world of financial aid. From explaining the application process to offering advice on payment policies, your role is all about providing helpful, clear, and expert guidance. You'll be working closely with a fun and supportive team, all while collaborating with the Assistant Director to keep things running smoothly in the Financial Aid Office!
What You'll Do:
- Be the go-to person for students, parents, and staff, helping them navigate financial aid requirements and eligibility with clarity and care.
- Conduct interviews with applicants and walk them through the ins and outs of the financial aid process.
- Help students find all available financial assistance, from federal to private sources, and encourage them to secure every possible resource.
- Represent the Financial Aid Office at fun events like visit days and high school presentations, helping spread the word about financial aid opportunities.
- Participate in interviews for new hires and grad assistants, plus contribute your ideas to policy discussions when invited by the Director.
- Keep all client-facing materials fresh and up-to-date, ensuring your colleagues and students have the best resources at their fingertips.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications1. Any one or combination totaling two (2) years (24 months) from the categories below:
A. College coursework in any discipline, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
- 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
- Associate's degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months)
- 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
- Bachelor's Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months)
B. Work experience performing office, business, or customer/relations activities.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:- Strong understanding of professional judgment to adjust FAFSA information in response to dependency status appeals.
- In-depth knowledge of University, state, and federal financial aid programs, including eligibility criteria, application processes, and resolving inconsistencies in applicant information.
- Solid understanding of University payment policies and procedures.
- Basic knowledge of U.S. tax forms and their relationship to financial aid application information.
- Ability to counsel student borrowers on debt management, utilizing various online resources.
- Familiarity with Banner to accurately interpret and revise applicant records, including recalculating financial need.
- Proficient in using technology to access information sources and produce student correspondence via word processing and email programs.
- Working knowledge of the University and its systems to ensure smooth operations.
