POSITION SUMMARY:
IREX is seeking an Information Technology (IT) Intern to support its global operations by assisting the DC-based IT team with day-to-day activities. The intern will help provide technical support to staff, maintain IT systems and inventory, and assist with audiovisual (AV) setups for meetings and events. This is a hands-on learning opportunity within a dynamic nonprofit environment, offering exposure to Office 365 tools and IT operations at a global organization.

The selected intern will be expected to work onsite three days per week, a maximum of 24 hours weekly. IREX’s IT Internship is scheduled to begin in June 2026 – August 2026, with the potential for extension.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Install, configure, update, and troubleshoot IT equipment and software for IREX staff and visitors
  • Provide technical support and guidance via phone, email, or in person
  • Assist with AV equipment setup and troubleshooting for meetings and events (cameras, screens, microphones, etc.)
  • Document and report IT incidents, service requests, and solutions
  • Manage and maintain IT inventory and records; help organize the IT storage room (including lifting equipment up to 40 pounds)
  • Support the shipment and receipt of IT equipment to and from the office
  • Follow IREX policies and procedures regarding IT security and compliance
  • Collaborate with IT team members on projects and daily tasks
  • Other support duties as needed.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited College or University, and pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Holds a min. GPA of 3.2/4.0.

The hourly rate for this internship is expected to be between $19.00 - $20.00, based on your previous experience.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position is performed in a typical office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. Safe use of IREX equipment, as well as safe practices while on IREX property is essential.
