ZT Labels is a manufacturing company located in Tempe, AZ, specializing in custom labeling solutions. We are currently looking for an Equipment Operator to join our Production Team. Adaptability and a willingness to learn and grow within our manufacturing department are essential traits for this role.

The Equipment Operator is responsible for performing production tasks and following established performance standards. Working effectively in a team environment, the Equipment Operator will start, operate, monitor, and stop various types of digital and flexo equipment while ensuring a safe and clean working environment by following procedures, rules, and regulations. Under the guidance of the Level III Production Worker or the Operations Manager, the Equipment Operator will ensure compliance with all specifications. They will document their actions by completing production and quality forms and reporting any equipment issues to their supervisors.

The responsibilities of the Equipment Operator include operating automated machinery, as well as tasks related to pre-press art, processing and packaging products. They have the authority to stop the production of any non-conforming parts or products by promptly notifying their Supervisor or Quality Inspector. This position adheres to standard work methods and practices safe work habits to ensure that production is both efficient and safe.

  • Machine operation experience, familiar with automated printing equipment.
  • Prepress ability to create proof and prepare art for production.
  • Ability to work in a high-volume fast fast-paced open shop environment.
  • Ability to adapt to changing work tasks throughout the day as needed.
  • Quality conscious throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Willingness to learn multiple job functions and become a valuable team member.

Job Requirements & Responsibilities

  • Startup, operate, tend, and stop a variety of equipment to performance standards.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Understand and ensure conformance to product specifications, stop any non-conforming parts or products.
  • Documents actions by completing production and quality forms.
  • Work to applicable performance standards.
  • Take instructions from supervisors and the production manager.
  • Able to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Report visual and audible equipment faults to supervisors.
  • ISO, LEAN, or other quality system experience is a plus.

Schedule

  • Full Time
  • 4 day work week with Fri, Sat and Sun off
  • 5:00 am – 3:30 pm (10-hour shift) Monday – Thursday

The Equipment Operator must be able to follow directions and routines, work independently while exercising sound judgment, and demonstrate spatial awareness. This role requires the ability to read words and numbers, maintain focus, memorize and recall information, recognize logical connections, and anticipate steps in a sequence of responses, processing information 2-3 steps ahead. Additionally, the employee must consistently attend work, commute safely to and from work, and arrive on time.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to airborne particulates, moving mechanical parts, and vibrations. The noise level can be loud at times. The physical demands outlined here represent the requirements that must be met for the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role.

The employee is often required to stand, walk, sit, use their hands and fingers, and reach with their arms. This position involves various repetitive tasks, such as inserting materials, aligning items by hand, and manually rotating fixtures. Additionally, the employee will spend time sitting, talking, and listening throughout the day. It is essential for the employee to be able to safely lift up to 49 pounds repeatedly during an 8 to 10-hour shift.
