The National Security Sector at Leidos is seeking a highly motivated DNA Technical Expert to manage programs within its Homeland and Force Protection Business Area. The candidate will support our Agile DevSecOps contract and be responsible for understanding customer needs to create new business and efficiently and effectively executing technical programs. The ideal candidate will possess superior analytical and problem-solving skills, operate independently with limited supervision and feedback, be a strong team player, and can establish solid working relationships with technical staff and peers within the division, as well as our external Government customers.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Organizes, directs, and manages contract operation support functions, involving multiple, complex and inter-related project tasks.

  • Maintain the Concept of Operations by reflecting changes in operations as software changes are made to the CODIS application.

  • Provide support to the development teams for implementing and testing possible future Popstats calculation enhancements.

  • Identify advances in technology and genetic analysis that could benefit the CODIS program.

  • Determine if data generated using the Dataset Generator utility is a scientifically accurate representation of specimens that typically exist in a CODIS production database.

Clearance Required:

  • Current Secret.

Required Experience, Skills, and Education:

  • 12+ years of experience specifically in the field of human population statistics (Statistics SME)

  • Understanding of the calculations used in Forensic Single Sample, Mixture, Semi-continuous (SC) Mixture, Kinship, Parentage, Partial Match, and Match Estimation.

  • SME should have at least 2 years of experience working with CODIS in a laboratory environment (CODIS SME).

  • At least 5 years of experience working with CODIS.

  • Understanding of CODIS searches: Auto-Searcher, Searcher, Batch Searcher, Rapid Search Requests, and Interoperability Services Specimen Search.

  • Knowledgeable of how CODIS is used within a laboratory environment to enter specimen data and find matches with other CODIS laboratories.

  • Provide support to the development teams for implementing and testing possible future Popstats calculation enhancements.

  • Validate testing approaches and the accuracy of system documentation (ConOps, functional specifications, and other technical documentation).

  • Familiar with loci homozygosity rates and allele frequencies.

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher degree related field preferred (additional experience, education and training may be considered in lieu of degree).

Preferred Experience, Skills, and Education:

  • Advance degree in Biometrics or equivalent IT related field preferred

  • Top Secret Clearance.

  • Experience in communications, cloud migration, and DevSecOps; hardware/software fabrication; Cloud, platform system integration; and/or test and evaluation.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $148,850.00 - $269,075.00
