Physical Requirements
This position requires regularly sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods and performing tasks with repetitive motions (such as typing); lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects weighing up to or over 50 pounds; standing or walking with objects weighing up to 25 pounds; working at heights above four feet; and exposure to risk of injury from moving, lifting, or positioning patients, equipment, or materials; loud noises; temperature extremes; and blood-borne/airborne pathogens; intermittently requires working in confined spaces; and occasionally requires job-related travel (less than 10% of time), exposure to hazardous chemicals and fumes including waste, radiation, burns, cuts/punctures, recombinant DNA or viral vectors, and combative/violent people.
Shift
Must be able to work three, 12-hour shifts per week; will also be required to work some weekends and holidays.
Job Summary
The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) at UKHC is pivotal in delivering prompt medical care, transportation, and empathetic service to patients in emergency situations. This role demands a combination of medical proficiency, effective communication skills, and a strong commitment to patient care. Operating in a fast-paced and often high-pressure environment, the EMT is responsible for assessing patient conditions, providing essential medical assistance, and ensuring patients are safely transported to healthcare facilities.

The starting pay for this position was recently adjusted. The minimum hourly rate for this position will now be $18.20/hour. All pay rates will be based on the candidate’s experience.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
Clear and articulate verbal communication skills, basic medical terminology, and basic computer skills.
Does this position have supervisory responsibilities? NoPreferred Education/Experience
A minimum of one year of related experience is strongly preferred. Ideal candidates will have a background that includes, but is not limited to, performing patient assessments, providing basic medical care and life support, as well as measuring and monitoring vital signs.
