Who we are

 

We’re Oregon Health & Science University’s Digital Strategy team. We’re the developers, web and security engineers, analysts, user experience and customer support experts who manage OHSU’s digital presence. We design, implement, optimize and maintain a collection of Drupal content management systems (CMS), custom applications, and 3rd-party integrations for OHSU's public website and intranet.

What you do

 

The creates, publishes, and organizes technical content for www.ohsu.edu and designs processes that shape the future of OHSU’s website documentation approach.

The Technical Documentation Strategist creates and manages easy-to-find, user-friendly technical content for OHSU Digital Strategy and our collaborators to make life easier for website users and product management teams. We're looking for an experienced professional to take ownership of our technical documentation processes, craft clear and effective user guides, and build a scalable product content strategy. This is a unique opportunity to blend your writing expertise and website knowledge with your passion for content strategy and information architecture.

 

This role will lead the way in establishing best practices for organizing and maintaining high-quality technical content for OHSU’s public website. Own the documentation lifecycle, from strategy to execution, and make a measurable impact on product quality, customer experience, and team efficiency. In this role you will have the opportunity to: he public website acts as the first step in a patient, student, researcher, or provider's journey when looking to use our services or expertise.

 

  • Collaborate with OHSU developers, engineers, designers, customer support, marketing and communications to align documentation with broader goals.
  • Converse about website governance, cross-department processes, product features, strategy and roadmap, how-to guides, compliance, and 3rd party code and applications with a team of internal experts.

This is a limited duration, 100% remote position with flexible schedule options outside of core hours (required 10am-3pm Pacific). This classification is not eligible for lead worker pay differential.



Responsibilities

Education: 

Master’s degree in computer science, a related field, or a clinical field and four years work related experience in the information technology field or a combination of clinical or operational healthcare environments; OR


Bachelor’s degree in computer science, a related field, or a clinical field and six years work related experience in the information technology field or a combination of clinical or operational healthcare environments; OR


Associate’s degree in computer science, a related field, or a clinical field and seven years work related experience in the information technology field or a combination of clinical or operational healthcare environments; OR


Eight years work related experience in the information technology field or a combination of clinical or operational healthcare environments; OR


Equivalent combination of education and experience where one year of experience will be substituted for an Associate’s degree and two years of experience will be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree.

 

Experience: 

  • Proven experience in technical writing, editing and/or documentation management for a website or application.
  • Knowledge of modern digital product documentation practices.
  • Experience using issue tracking and wiki software.
  • Direct experience in writing and editing content using an enterprise documentation management system.
  • Minimum two years of experience providing technical documentation to non-technical users.
  • Experience managing multiple workstreams and prioritizing work in a fast-paced environment.

 

Job Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong ability to structure complex information for a variety of audiences.
  • Proficient with tools like Confluence, Jira.
  • General knowledge of content management systems and modern website technologies.
  • Ability to translate customer and user needs into documentation requirements.
  • Ability to effectively lead a project and produce high-quality deliverables.
  • Ability to quickly learn new software.
