Employee Type: RegularSafe and efficient operation of heavy equipment along with other duties as assigned.
Job Description:
Essential Duties:
Operate heavy earth-moving equipment such as dozers, excavators, loaders, mining trucks, scrapers, and more in all aspects of mining.
Perform proper equipment startup and shutdown procedures along with daily servicing of equipment.
Operate within acceptable range of design capabilities of the equipment aided by instrumentation gauges and indicators.
Perform all job duties following MSHA laws and regulations, established company safety policies, and state and federal environmental regulations in a safe and efficient manner consistent with North American Mining standards.
Practice defensive driving and operating at all times.
Other duties:
Work with other equipment operators in a safe and organized manner and within established traffic plans.
Assist in water management, construction, labor and maintenance activities as is necessary.
Perform utility work and operate utility equipment.
Assist the maintenance department with routine repairs.
Keep the supervisor informed of any potential problems.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must understand basic mechanical workings of heavy equipment to assess condition and prevent damage.
Operate equipment properly within tolerances.
Assist with the performance of preventative maintenance and servicing on occasion.
Ability to work with GPS units in the equipment.
Knowledge and ability to respond to emergencies and unpredictable situations.
Ability to recognize unsafe and adverse conditions and the knowledge to correct or report them.
Ability and willingness to work rotating shifts up to 12 hours per shift, night shifts, and weekends.
Education and Training:
High school diploma or GED. Relevant experience may replace.
Two years of experience operating heavy off-road construction equipment is a plus.
