Job Overview:
Are you passionate about sports, health, and the well-being of student-athletes? We're seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Assistant Athletic Trainer to join our dynamic team! As a key player in our athletic department, you'll work closely with a variety of health care professionals-physicians, trainers, coaches, and more-to ensure our student-athletes receive the best care and rehabilitation for their injuries.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Injury Evaluation & Treatment: Assess and treat athletic injuries to help our student-athletes get back to their peak performance.
- Collaboration is Key: Work side by side with team physicians, athletic trainers, sports nutritionists, mental health professionals, and performance staff to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
- Documentation: Keep accurate medical records of all athletic health care activities, ensuring compliance with best practices in medical documentation.
- Injury Rehabilitation: Assist in the rehabilitation of injured student-athletes, guiding them through the recovery process with tailored plans that promote safe and efficient recovery.
- Advisory Role: Provide feedback and recommendations to the Head Athletic Trainer on program policies, insurance/medical issues, and other sports medicine-related matters.
- Safety First: Evaluate athletic facilities for safety hazards and provide suggestions for improvements to enhance the well-being of our athletes.
- Reports & Communication: Provide injury reports to the appropriate University and insurance personnel to ensure proper handling and follow-up of injuries.
- Compliance: Ensure all activities align with University, Conference, and NCAA Division I rules and regulations.
- Team Player: Work with athletic health care personnel to provide the best care and rehabilitation for our student-athletes.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications- Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred;
- Certification by the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification (continuing education units required);
- Licensure by the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation (continuing education units required);
- Current CPR for Professional Rescuer/Basic Life Support certification;
- Strong communication and organizational skills;
- Demonstrated crisis management skills; and
- Working understanding of computers, including, but not limited to, word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs
