WHAT YOU’LL DO

Reporting to the Program Director, the Program Manager is responsible for supporting the planning, implementation, and evaluation of NKF’s patient and professional programs across the region. This role will oversee community outreach and volunteer engagement for the region, and in-person programming in Eastern Missouri and Arkansas. In addition, the Program Manager will serve as the Camp Director for our pediatric kidney camp. 

The Program Manager will work closely with the Program Director and Executive Director as well as local and national teams, healthcare professionals, community organizations, and volunteers to ensure programs align with NKF’s mission and strategic initiatives.

  • Assist in the execution of NKF’s signature programs, including but not limited to:
    • Patient Education: The Patient Empowerment Series, Big Ask Big Give, and other transplant and kidney health education programs.
    • Professional Education: CME/CEU-accredited programs and Renal Roundtables.
    • Community Awareness & Prevention: Take Charge, Your Kidneys & You, CKDintercept, and other health equity initiatives.
  • Serve as the Camp ChiMer Camp Director which includes; planning and execution of Camp ChiMer in conjunction with our camp medical partner, Children’s Mercy Hospital.
  • Lead in-person programming in Eastern Missouri and Arkansas, ensuring accessibility for local communities.
  • Support in the coordination of logistics, program marketing, participant engagement, and program delivery.
  • Track key performance metrics and contribute to program evaluation and reporting.
  • Recruit, train, and manage outreach volunteers for the region.
  • Facilitate partnerships to increase community engagement and extend NKF’s mission to high-risk and underserved populations.
  • Assist with program budgeting, ensuring alignment with financial goals.
  • Secure funding, sponsorships, and in-kind donations to support program sustainability.
  • Perform additional duties, as required

WHAT YOU’LL POSSESS

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, with a minimum of 3 years of experience managing community outreach and/or public education programs—preferably within a nonprofit health organization.
  • Demonstrated experience in grant proposal writing and working with volunteers.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with excellent interpersonal, time management, and organizational abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Willingness and ability to travel overnight for business, with flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.

WORKING CONDITIONS, EQUIPMENT USED AND SPECIAL INFORMATION

Must have unimpeachable integrity and trustworthiness while possessing a high degree of tact, discretion, and professionalism. Verbal and written communication skills will be used daily. Maintain effectiveness under pressure. Competency in use of a telephone, computer, photocopier, and other standard office equipment.  Ability to lift and transport equipment weighing up to 25 lbs. Flexible to work evenings and weekends as needed. Available for overnight business travel. Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
