PDS Optical is seeking an Anti-Reflective Technician to complete our AR Team in our Louisville, Kentucky Optica Lab! 

As an AR Technician you will control the optical manufacturing equipment that cleans, dips, and coats the lenses with anti-reflective coating which is applied to eyewear prescriptions in order to reduce reflection and increase lens durability, clarity, and quality.

This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday from the hours of 4:00pm to 12:30am. The starting pay for this position is $17.00 per hour.

Optical experience is not required. We offer on the job training. 

Essential Functions

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Understand the order of the lab production, the Julian Day Number (JDN) system and which jobs are considered "HOT" or "PRIORITY JOBS" that should be completed first.
  • Learn and follow the AR process from start to finish which includes but is not limited to:
    • Cleaning the lenses meticulously by hand and inspecting them throughout the process for surface defects.
    • Multiple washing and rinsing baths, including ultrasonic cleaning to remove any traces of surface contaminants. 
    • Air drying and heating of the lenses in special ovens to further remove unwanted moisture and gases from the lens surfaces.
  • Knowledge of various AR equipment operation as well as the cleaning requirements. 
  • Performing machine cleaning and routine maintenance on all equipment. 
  • Keep the work area and equipment clean and organized at all times.


Work Environment

This position is located in the Anti-Reflection Department of our optical laboratory and operates in a production/manufacturing setting. The room temperature is monitored, and the noise level can be somewhat loud. This position also requires working with various chemicals including corrosives and employees must always proper cleanroom attire and required Personal Protective Equipment at all times while inside the AR lab.
